Are We Getting A New Cannondale Supersix?

105 SS EVO 3 size 54 strip down and rebuild begins.
Coming from a SS EVO 2 hi mod I was bit shocked at the frame & fork weight!
Complete bike out the box: 8.8kg.
Frame including BB and hanger: 1115g
Fork uncut: 475g
this needs to go on a serious diet...target weight is 6.8kg with etap 11s, sisl2 and farsports 35mm feders.

Hard to say, 58 should fit, probably best to compare with your previous bike. People here and racers usually prefer downsizing, smaller frames are nicer, stiffer, lighter.. 56 would be ok for your 79cm saddle to bb height..(58 as well).BlackForestRider wrote: ↑Sat Sep 12, 2020 7:19 pmThank you, Understood. That means it wil be 5mm + around 6mm (for 2cmStack) = 11mm?hannawald wrote: ↑Sat Sep 12, 2020 6:23 pmBe careful with the stem length! You may be confused with reach numbers, reach is measured at stack height. 58 has higher stack height and if you put spacers on 56 to achieve same stack height a measure your reach there, there will be bigger difference than 5mm...reach drops by about 3mm for every 1cm of height..BlackForestRider wrote: ↑Sat Sep 12, 2020 4:54 pmThanks a lot!
I ordered a 58. reach is Almost the Same (5mm Differenz) I can Ride it with the same BB drop like you, But without additional Spacers since my seatpost will be 2cm higher.
The guy in the shop said, that my arms are longer then average. My armspan is 186cm qt 184cm height. Does that maybe explain to go for the 58?
So it depends what stem length and how many spacers you plan..up to 120mm stem and 3cm of spacers (incl headset cover) i would prefer 56..if you need more spacers or longer stem on 56 it's probably better to take 58..
Just weighed my front thru-axle (some Maxle) and rear QR (Mavic) and they weigh in at 99g.Dan Gerous wrote: ↑Thu Sep 10, 2020 11:48 pm
So my opinion is that thru-axles are indeed better and nicer but just that wouldn't be a deciding factor to change a bike IMO. There are many good reasons to change it though.
As you may remember, Cannondale had the bizarre idea to design the previous gen Evo Disc with thru-axle front and QR rear...
So 30g heavier than the stock Cannondale thru-axles for the new Evo. So just another reason.
I have had similar issues with frame choice being 'between sizes'. I'm the opposite to you with longer legs and shorter arms than average.BlackForestRider wrote: ↑Sat Sep 12, 2020 7:19 pmThank you, Understood. I went for the larger frame size, which meant I could have very few spacers and a relatively short stem. A smaller frame size would have allowed me a slightly longer stem, but also needed more spacers. So I chose less spacers and a shorter stem.
If your arms are longer than average then
you can get the larger frame, minimise your need for spacers and still have a long stem. If you go for the smaller frame then unless you are supremely flexible you will need more spacers, but the benefit could be a longer stem.
Choice is yours, but largely comes down to your flexibility.

The "SuperSix Evo" branding is a sticker under the clear coat?! It also looks wonky and not on the centreline of the top tube? Is it camera parallax/distortion or actually wonky?rmr40 wrote:105 SS EVO 3 size 54 strip down and rebuild begins.

It was 'over' the clearcoat on mine, which I really appreciated, easily removed. I just wished the UCI didn't force companies to have their big ugly approval sticker under it!Maximilian wrote: ↑Sat Sep 12, 2020 11:59 pmThe "SuperSix Evo" branding is a sticker under the clear coat?! It's over the clearcoat as Dan says, I made the error of trying to peel the 'covering' off mine and made a right mess of it... Better off just removing the whole thing!

Anyone of you can post name of the biggest tires you were able to mount in supersix?
I am preparing myself for winter, when i would like to ride also some harsher roads with it. So considering some CX tires... Or just use gp5kTL 32mm?

Not my bike, but may be of interest:
Impressive, these are Vision trimax 30, inner 19, outer 24mm.
I am running roval clx50, inner 21, outer 29. So i am expexting those will not fit, but going to 33mm of such type would be still good.

Dan, what is the height of the Evo's top spacer, measured without including the height of the lip at its front side?
I assume it can be installed directly on top of the headset bearing.
Also, does it rotate with the handlebar/fork or is it fixed on the headtube/frame? Sorry for the naive question
