Yep.............. Damn nuisances

And all for the sake of a massive 5% discount. :D

Sorry, even worse than that as the discount is now a grand 2.5%......honestly
They choke the forum up with meaningless drivel to save^^^^^^. I can see at some point it will be a zero discount, but so be it

Some of those posts may be from spammers trying to hit the minimum post counts to start posting links to their discount handbags or "male enhancement pills" or whatever, assuming that policy is still in place.

Finally, after all these years, I took 2 grams off the bottom of the bottom bracket and one gram off the front derailleur hanger, for a frame that now weighs 597 grams. I took more off the crankset, it now weighs 304 grams. The bigger reduction is from my new saddle/seatpost combo. I used my dash saddle with a schmolke post. Total weight 68 grams, and that is with a 300mm long shaft. A light saddle alone weighs that. I have about 1,200 miles on this combo; no problems (I weigh 138lbs @ 5'10'').

For a couple of years now instead of cut inner tubes for hoods I have been using a cut, flexible work glove. Lighter, more flexible ones work best, also the thumb looks better. Just cut the ends to the right shape. They have been very durable. Also I have used thin packing foam with some black "Flex Seal", a liquid rubber coating. One can spray or brush it on the foam. As time wears some of the coating away one can just add more. There are many brands of gloves, one has to find the right ones.

Carbon pad holders with all hardware is 14 grams. I recently took 1 gram off the two rear holders but I have been using these at this weight for over 5 years without problems.

Carbon bar ends, 1.7 grams the pair.
Carbon 10mm wrench for bolt-on skewers, 4.9 grams.

This is a special bike to be enjoyed on smoother roads. Donald is an older gentleman and can go a bit easier on the bike. I don't think he would take it into a road construction area and so on. It's not worth the risk.

For those not in the USA, that’s 62.6kg and 1m78. It’s light but hardly freakishly so. Within normal BMI.

Coinmonger, I feel the Pillar X-tra lite Ti spokes are very durable. At your weight I'm sur e it will be Ok with 28-32. The bike has been at 7.15 lbs, 3,248 grams for over a year now. I rode the bike for over 8 years on many very bad roads but the last 3 years have been on better roads.

Do you have a good source for the Pillar Ti spokes?

When I was building a set of road wheels with Pillar X-TRA Lite Ti I managed to find only two sources: FWB and Vaxes Bike/TopVenturer. I chose Vaxes, communication and overall experience were OK. The spokes come with free silver DSN nipples, if you want black you'd have to pay extra and will end up with a bag of spare nipples in uncommon size, whole transaction cost me 412USD for 2x24 spokes, black nipples, PayPal fees and shipping.

Don't get Ti spokes if you're 90kg. Even if they hold up they're not as stiff as steel so why bother?

You can extend this regardless you weight 60 or 90. Ti spokes have such a big impact on stiffness that the performance lost is ridiculous. I remember measuring it and (even if protocol was slightly different) with a wheel that didn’t reach 30N/mm of stiffness (low 20s?) you already lost .4 km/h at 300w

That's "rail thin". If he were a boxer, he'd be a tall Lightweight who is usually around 4-5 inches shorter.

I don’t know anything about boxing so no idea there. I’m 175cm tall and fluctuate around a 61-64kg range. I guess what’s normal varies a lot from place to place and sport to sport.
