I'm planning on using 1x force AXS on my TT bike, but some of my wheels can't be upgraded to XDR freehub.

I assume the shimano 12 speed cassettes would work with AXS rear derailleur but which chain and 1x chainring would you choose for that setup? Sram 12 speed chainring and eagle chain? Shimano hg+ chain and compatible chainring (I quess no one has made one yet)?

With 1x I'd match the chain and chain ring, since narrow-wide chain rings depend on correct inner chain widths to work best.

I bought a shimano XT 12 speed chain to try with my 10-33 axs cassette and force FD & RD. It worked OK for the most part, except that it would occasionally refuse to shift in the 13-14-15 range. A micro-adjust only changed the problem from up shifting to down shifting. It last did this after 100 miles of break-in, so I took it off. I'm sticking with axs chains. I've used axs chains with Campy 12 cassettes and RDs with no problem. I continue to have no problem with grx cranks and axs chains.

I wonder if Sram changed the rollers to have better engagement with that 10T cog they are using. Think I have seen comments about that 10T having poor engagement when running larger chainrings.

Very interested by this for a retro-modern build. Are we saying AXS shifters and derailleurs with 8100 cassette, cranks, and flat top chain? Or maybe SRAM mtb 12 speed chain?

so the 12 speed shimano chain + casette + sram 11 speed deralieur + ratio conversion kit should be a perfect combo for me - i am still thinking if it will work. Dont want to use etap axs at all or axs chain / rings

Since the XT/XTR chains are what shimano will use with their 12 speed road groups, I'd try that chain first, if using a shimano cassette, but I'd certainly give the axs chain a shot too. I was impressed with it on my Campy 12 drivetrain.

Thanks, that makes sense. Hopefully early next year I should be able to test this.

I'd be interested to see if DA12 group sent would work with an AXS cassette. Better ratio options in my opinion.

Can anyone comment on how well Shimano 12-speed road cassettes work with an otherwise all AXS setup? I have some wheels that I cannot get XDR drivers for so I was wondering if I can just use an R8100 cassette on 11-speed Shimano hub with flattop chain and rest AXS.

Are any of the AliExpress 12 speed HG cassettes worth a shot?

Following the comments about AXS chains running on Campagnolo cassettes, has anyone tried an AXS cassette in an otherwise 12speed Campag setup?

Based on specs, see no reason this wouldn't work OK

I put a 10-36 axs cassette and chain on my all Campy drivetrain and it worked great.
