Skinsuits for civilians?
Moderator: robbosmans
Though I no longer race I'm blessed to have a slim physique.
Watching professional racing, I love the sleek fit of the skinsuits and gilets the pros now wear these days. I assume they must also be pretty comfortable.
Anyone wearing them? I'll be honest I am interested because I like the look. But curious whether skinsuits work for everyday training.

You're looking for a "road suit" as they're commonly called once you add rear pockets... They're super comfy, and certainly more aero than a baggy jersey. There are lots of options from Castelli, Nopinz, Santini, and all many of the smaller custom clothing manufacturers.

“Roadsuits” also exist, essentially a jersey and bibs sewn together with no straps. No loose fabric and you can still whip it out to relieve yourself.
I really like the fit and feel of Eliel roadsuite over the separate jersey and bibs.
Unfortunately, it doesn't last anywhere as long as the fabric used on the two piece set. So I don't use it as often as I'd like to.
Just something to check when you shop for thin roadsuite.

Had one custom made by Velotec because unfortunately my proportions don't work with any off-the-rack suit.

LMK If anyone has any other places I can look into for custom fits. Really just want another suit that "looks good" now. Subjective, but yeah lol.

Anyone considering this should have a sense of estetics, you don't want to go for the stuffed sausage effect

Some of us aren’t overweight.
2 years ago I wanted to try one of these as I had found an Ale Pro Race skinsuit for cheap.
I used it only for 2/3 times cause I found out that the pad was in slightly different position than the normal Ale bibs and the result wasn't very comfortable.

Le Col make our Speed Suits. Such a great piece of kit.

considering the forum we're on, anyone concerned with optimising the weight of their bicycle has probably already optimised the weight of their body lol.FlyingDutchman wrote: ↑Sun May 02, 2021 9:12 amAnyone considering this should have a sense of estetics, you don't want to go for the stuffed sausage effect

i recently purchased a nopinz roadsuit, has two large pockets, difficult but not impossible to pee from. not sure about the durability though.
