Shimano just released gravel groups, they don't need to overlap road race group features with gravel group features

CyclingTips released a podcast that is largely about current/future tech, but there are a few minutes of next gen DA discussion. No real news, but interesting points:

- Shimano are focusing on perfecting Disc Brakes, rather than shifting. Their view is that the shifting has less to gain than disc brakes, so any big updates will likely focus on discs and the shifting will not see major updates.
- From a business perspective, Shimano are likely focussing more on e-bikes given this is the largest market for them. The enthusiast market is well developed, and they are likely to gain more by allocating dev/eng resources to e-bikes and other emerging products.

I find is interesting, that Shimano never released R9100 or R8000 branded hubs (rim brake or disc brake)
May be they are thinking about thru-axles as single standard for both rim and disc brakes?
Found patents on Dura-Ace (straight pull) front thru-axle rim brake hub... Thruaxle + QR adapter:

So far Shimano described almost all variations of semi-wireless designs in recent patents

An employee at a major bicycle manufacturer spilt the beans to me earlier. He's seen a presentation by Shimano. He didn't give any details, but when I asked he nodded.

Next gen is semi-wireless. Take it to the bank.

Sounds good. Semi-wireless is probably the best solution for all.

Agreed. I’d prefer having an internal battery with wires to the front and rear derailleurs. Way better than those fugly battery tumors on the sram derailleurs. Wireless shifters are fine (saves the one-time non-trivial task of wiring handlebars internally if you want to use a bar-end junction box).

One other thing I wish Shimano can improve is drivetrain noise. The 9150 on my own C60 is so noisy comparing to the SR12 on a friend's bike I've been borrowing. The DA9000 I had before is also noisy.
I've found the opposite, my r8000 and r7000 drivetrains are very quiet, while a friend's SRAM Force AXS is really noisy.
