Jersey pocket bag

What in the world do you guys think you are going to land on if your pockets were empty? I can guarantee you that if you are going over the bars, WHATEVER you may land on will NOT be soft and has the potential to do bodily harm. It has nothing to do with WHAT is carried in the jersey pocket, as most of you admit to carrying your phone back there....please remember that it is made of glass and metal.....that will be very harmful to your back once it is shattered into small pieces. Just saying.....

I, personally will continue to take the risk and carry items in my back pocket for my own convenience. If I should ever go over the bars (again), I will hope that I don't land on a rock, edge of sidewalk, curb, stump, small dog, in-flight pigeon, etc as that would probably break my back and hurt like heck.

Not likely to break your back with a phone as it's a wide surface that lays flat against your back.

Bulging jersey pockets and a sagging jersey back look far worse than a saddle bag.

Have to agree. Tried using a Sticky Pod to store phone, latex tube, PDW Shiny Object, and a single 12-gram CO2 cartridge in my center rear jersey pocket, only to find this caused extreme sag in light weight jerseys (ex Castelli and Panache). Now I have a small neoprene camera lens case secured with Velcro under saddle but those I ride with who forego saddle bags, use Ziploc baggies with tube and CO2 in separate pockets to avoid the sag.

I could disagree. I often have to stay for long behind my riding mate, he is leaner so most of the times in front. I can't miss his pockets which are like santas sack, bulging and with all sort of stuff about to fall: half exposed dangling warmers, pump etc and so on . It makes me dizzy to be honest )

One of the reason I like my Gore jersey, 5pockets with 2 very thin on each side, can put co2 on one side multitool on the other and those 2 “heavy” items don’t move al all and avoid any sag. Then tubular on the central and phone on the right, that gives a quite balanced way to pack things on the jersey and let the hard, pointy items far away from spine.

I was thinking about this scenario. Out on the road in an accident situation anything can happen. I think this scenario is like a 1 in a billion chance. We all probably have a much greater likelihood of getting creamed by a car.

Pumps in jersey pockets still look wrong to me.

If there is some sag on the jerseys’ pockets, then the one should uses jersey that fits him (not only the size but the fit is important as we don’t all have the same shape)

Left pocket has my iPhone XR. Far right pocket has zip lock bag, with rubber bands around it to make it compact, with tube, co2, one tire lever, and inflator. My jersey doesn’t seem to sag.

Just got some new wheels for my nice day bike and the 40mm stems won’t work with them. Now I have to remember to grab the right pack. It will be a challenge for me.

What's the aversion to a wedge pack? I don't get people stuffing junk in a back pocket when a wedge pack is better and safer. OK I wouldn't put my cell phone or camera there, but tools?
