shimano 52-36 recomendations true?

I'm a young belgian cyclist and the maximum pedal stroke distance is 48-14 so i cant use original shimano chainrings , i bought a ultegra di2 groupset with 52-36 and replaced the 52 with a 48-36 what does shift very well. Now i want to cut a couple 10grams with a 34 chainring. Will this shift as good? or will i drop chains etc. Someone has experience with stuff like this?

The usual combination that 34 chainrings are used in is with a 50 big ring, and that works perfeclty fine, so a 48-34 should shift as well or even better. However, unless you actually need the easier gearing I wouldn't put a 34 to save 10 grams, just pick the size that works best for the type of races you do.

Agree... i use 50-36 on my Etap. I have no use for a 34.

I use a 52/34 Ultegra 8000 on the gravel setup... shifts very well.

GCN on youtube just featured a Canyon Ultimate with 52 34. Presenter said its definitely not as goog as 52 36 but it does work and has not experienced problems

yes but 52-34 is a bigger gap than a 48-34

Don't bother saving a silly 10 grams or so just by changing a chainring. If a 36 works fine and gives you ideal gear ratios then keep it that way. I'm a junior and run 52-36 with 14-28 and find that I have a gear that's good enough for even the steepest of climbs!
If it's just about weight, seriously look elsewhere. You can save some for cheaper prices by using latex tubes, titanium skewers etc. (don't know your exact bike setup though).
