yeah, aesthetic wise, -7 angle stem is the default choice

until it can't be low enough then change to...
-10 degree bring you down by about 6mm
-12 degree bring you down by about 9mm
-17 degree bring you down by about 19mm
select a suitable one, and then add spacer if neccessery. but it'll still be less than 2cm even in case of changing from -7 to -17.

On the upward side, S-works Aerofly (hover version) bring bar up by whopping 2.5cm.
"-7 degree stem along with 6mm spacer" and "-17 degree stem with no spacer and riser bar" will be just at the same height.
while -7 degree stem looks fine on normal bar, IMO Aerofly with raised doesn't look right without the -17 degree stem. so by changing from -7 degree stem to -17 degree stem with the hover bar, you only eliminate 6mm spacer.

I still think it looks pretty cool, and i'd use "-17 degree stem, no spacer with hover bar" rather than "-7 degree stem, 6mm spacer, normal bar" anyway.
Unfortunately it's not an available choice for me as i need lower stack than that.

If you are given a choice to choose between a 25mm raised bar, like SWORKS Aerofly, or to add 25mm spacers underneith the stem, what would you choose? Aesthetically which one would look better?
Aesthetically, quill stems in threaded steerers look better than anything threadless.

IMO a bike looks weird without spacers. I even design my frames to be run with spacers to get the top tube lower.

I had a buddy asking me how i could buy a non race bike, non aero.
But he rides with 30 mm spacers, 100mm -6 stem, on most of his bikes.
Needless to say, but i did find his remarks a bit off.

Those bars should be made a criminal offence

Why not a zero degree (90 degree) stem, minimal spacers, normal bar?

That wrap job should be a criminal offense. I do know how big of a pain S-Works HD and also Supacaz are to wrap around tight bends though.

I ride a Venge Vias -- could have picked between no spacers and a 25mm riser bar and roughly 25 mm of spacers with a no rise bar -- definately glad I went with the no rise bar because that bar looks baddddddd.

Europe has already many problems, why blame on us for FLUORO too?

Back to topic, spacers are like a son stepping on your foot's finger, you can't do anything! But rise bar....
