Dure Ace 9000 crank on a Campagnolo super record bike
Moderator: robbosmans
I have a steel pegoretti duende. It has a super record 11 speed group on it. I want to get a 52/36 combo and am thinking of putting a DA 9000 crank on it. I'm I crazy it just seems that da chainrings seem to shift slightly better but I love the style of campy shifters and ergonomics. So will it work any reason it wouldn't
It will work. I have seen many people with fulcrum cranks on DA bikes. It will look weird is all. You could always get compact campg cranks and some praxis rings.

Looking at Campag's spares list it appears that the current rings are incompatible with older cranks. I'm pretty sure this is more to do with the chainring bolts rather than anything else, so changing the bolts as well should solve that issue. I'll see if there is any other reason once back at work on Monday.

Stronglight CT2 rings
Specialites TA Nerius
Both work well and come in 52 and 36 for the special 110/112 campagnolo configuration
here a link for them

Another option would be Miche Super 11 rings. Available in 53/52/50 and 34/36/38/39/42 to fit Campagnolo CT chainsets. Seem to work perfectly well.

I'm sure Ulti is correct. Campy has really messed with chainring bolt designs in the past few years, as you can see looking at the 2010 and 2013 catalogs. There are three styles:
1 "conventional" nut (from the back) and bolt, still used on levels below Chorus.
2 reverse system used in 2010 Athena and up with the nut in front and screw at back.
3 "nutless" system today on Chorus and up using threaded inner chainrings.
There are either 2 or 3 different hole sizes in the crankarms to go with the above.
I thought that maybe current Athena CT 52/36 rings might fit 2010 Record, but without having the bits in hand it's hard to say.

There's sometimes a buggy.

So let's just say I'm drivin' this buggy...

I have a sneaking suspicion that the change in 2011 was to allow a smaller hole in the crankarm tabs. Athena Carbon CT rings may be a better fit...
I just put 52/36 campagnolo rings on a super record crank with the white graphics. 2010 I think. Just used some new nutlets chainring bolts.

Campagnolo only started offering 52/36 this year so you'll need to change your rings and bolts.

If you're wanting to switch to the DA9000 crank merely for the 52-36 combo, then there are other options as people before me have pointed out. These two threads contain a lot of information about switching chainrings on Campy cranksets:

If you want 52-36, here is what I would do:
1) Trade your buddy for his SR11 compact cranks
2) Buy TA Specialites Nerius 11 chainrings in 52-36 (http://www.specialites-ta.com/gb/plateau-nerius11.html)
3) Buy the TA Specialites UTC3 chainring bolts (http://www.specialites-ta.com/gb/visserie-utc3.html)
The 36T chainring is $50 and the 52T chainring is $85 from Wiggle. The chainring bolts should run about $35.
