They prob made the decision so a known entity wins and not some random domestique there for training to expose the race as the meh thing that it has become. Bring back the Laguna Seca stage and don't make the big climbing stages so short!
Don't take me too seriously. The only person that doesn't hate Froome.

Better to have an overhyped over the hill yank in the lead than a young upcoming rider in their Mickey Mouse race.

but ToC status is similar to - for instance - Tour de Pologne. both races are just training/warm up before more significant events. no one really cares or focuses on them, apart from domestic teams (at ToC), and 2nd, 3rd tier riders who get some freedom to chase results.. sure, they still can provide some excitement, but even their routes are being designed in a way that doesn't scare off those with bigger goals in mind. they're not too hard, and not too dificult - average stage lenght of this year's TdP is just 150km

That's fine. Strategic decision.

Its not a surprise that any of the GC teams rather not hold onto the Pink in the beginning of a three week tour. Just want to be near it not have it.

Is it true what I read about Roglic's crash? That it was in the first km?

That would be awful to then have to sit on the bike for 200+ KM

Maybe they could apply the ToC rules? Oh, wait! He’s not on home turf. ;)

I suppose it's worse because Tejay is in yellow, but shady shit happens at literally every race.

See: 2018 TdF and Arnaud Demare mysteriously making mountain stage time cuts despite getting dropped from the peloton in flat sections.

I can’t for the life of me see why TVG was given a pass for that. Really shitty decision.

Gaviria out of the Giro, knee pain.

Laurens De Plus also out of the race, he's been ill the last few days, he was the best helper for Roglic in the mountains...

didn't see it live but when I read about it it seemed like he was just outside of 3km to go but after seeing this

https://www.reddit.com/r/peloton/commen ... _4_fiasco/

it's pretty outrageous considering he wasn't even IN the group of the crash in question

Put in another way, if Tejay was no where near that group, would that group still have had their time adjusted? No.. they wouldn't.

I like Tejay and I was rooting for him to hold on and win last year but now I'm really hoping he coughs up a minute or so in the Queen stage just like last year.
