Specialized Turbo Cotton Tires - Width Question..
Moderator: robbosmans
I've been an avid Continental GP5000 fan but am thinking about trying a set of Turbo Cottons (with latex tubes). I'm trying to decide which size to buy. My wheels are 23mm internal and 30mm external, and I've been using 25c tires - that end up measuring 29mm on the wider rims. Does anyone have real world width measurements for Turbo Cotton's on a 23mm rim?
2015 Wilier Zero.7 Rim - 6.37kg
2020 Trek Emonda SLR-7 Disc - 6.86kg
2023 Specialized SL7 - 7.18kg

Not exactly what you're asking but if I recall correctly 25mm TC on 21mm internal measured out to just under 27mm while 28mm measured out to 30mm on the same rim.

My 26mm Turbo Cotton on Alpinist CLX (21mm internal) measure 28mm at 65psi.
I ran 26c turbo cottons on LB AR56s (the rim I assume you are using) and they came out to almost exactly 29mm.

Great combo, raced and won quite a few crits on it. I have moved on to Veloflex tires as they are cheaper but have the same great ride quality as the turbo cottons.

Running LB's AR56 which are 23/30 and700x28 Turbo cottons...and latex tubes.
Being that the turbo cottons are running only a 1mm above their stayed width, when new, 28mm on a 23/30 rims would go around 29.5mm, almost perfect, considering the 105 rule.
I also recall that my LB rims were about 30.5 mm wide.
So even now after months and months of use, the rims are wider, than tires.
And I run like 48-50 psi-F and 57-60 psi-R and I weigh 72kg..
Unless you are going for absolute speed, the 28's are the best
