So many different thing to find surrounding this topic, I'm wondering what your opinions are.

Im planning the following: I have a gravelbike and road disc bike (will clear 35mm tyre). Gravelbike with 44mm vredestein aventura on 24mm internal wheelset and road bike with 28mm vittoria corsa control on 21mm internal rim.

My idea is to build a third wheelset that would allow the gravelbike to be more road oriented and the road bike to be more "allroad". This will be a farsports gravel rimset with 26mm internal WITH hooks.

Would it be nuts to think a pirelli velo30mm or gp5000 in 32mm (probably 35mm in reality on this rim) would do the trick?

Or is 26mm internal and 32mm a no-go. Several tyre manufacturers start at 40mm tyre plus for this size rim, as opposed to many experiences I've read where it is supposed to work fine.

Any other ideas? (at some point swap the 24mm and 26mm internal wheelset I guess).

it depends on external rim width vs actual external tire width on this rim

external width for hooked rim with 25mm internal is approx. 32mm
external width for hooked rim with 26mm internal can be >32mm or <32mm for different rim brands

"32mm" tires have different bead-to-bead size width - this dimension can determine rim compatiblity;
ask rim manufacturer about minimal bead-to-bead tire size tested with this rim

For the 24 internal, it's 30 external and for the 26 internal it's 32 external.
The "extra" wheelset is comfort oriented, not so much towards ultimate Aero etc.

I am running Corsa control 28 on a 25 ID LB WR65 for road, width as measured is 30.8mm.

I am running Specialized Roubaix 32 on 25 ID LB WR50 for allroad, width as measured is 34.9mm.

Mounting 28mm on a 25ID is common so 26mm ID is not too wide for either of the tyres you are considering.

Based on other measurements shared on this forum the 32mm GP5000 should measure 34.5mm on a 26mm ID wheel. I don’t have any measurements for the Velo 32, but the Velo 35mm measures 37mm on a 25 ID wheel so I imagine the 32 would also run about 2mm larger.

The Velo is a more robust tyre than the GP5000, with a 66TPI casing, if that’s what you are after.

I just switched my race bike from PZero Race (2021) 26c to Continental GP5000C (28/30c). The continentals feel a little faster.
All of those are exactly 1mm wider than the official number on my 21 internal (27.2mm, 28.9mm and 31.1mm)
Cervelo P5 Disc (2021) 9.1kg
Factor Ostro Gravel (2023) 8.0kg
S-Works SL8 (2023) 6.3kg

*weights are race ready, size 58/L.

Interesting! Thanks, I guess setup will be pirelli 26 front and pirelli / conti 28 rear for aero, corsa control 28 front and 30 rear for more durable /comfort. 2nd wheelset then @ 32mm contis on the second wheelset should provide combination of max comfort, grip and reasonable rolling resistance.

Farsports:

36 height, 32 width, offset rim. Available hookless or with hook. Want to be able to ride any tyre I like without second thoughts so prefer hooks. Really liking the vredesteins for example, they are not hookless compatible.
