Same, actually been running LB RM29C06 mtb rim as my gravel wheels for 5 years. This was LB first ever hookless mtb rim and I actually had them on a Tallboy mtb back in 2014. These are bomber rims, the only real drawback is the mold is so old it was before a bead hump was standard so it doesn't have them.pdlpsher1 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 09, 2021 9:04 pmIf you want a gravel focused wheelset go for a shallow depth. It'll be lighter. WR38/WR40 are fine but they add weight but add no aero advantage once you put a 40mm tire on. For gravel I personally use MTB rims.TamCyclist wrote: ↑Thu Oct 07, 2021 5:12 pmThanks for this. Do you think the WR38/WR40 would be the play for everything from road to heavy gravel? At least to start?
Can always buy a road-only wheel set in 6 months or so, but thinking of getting the gravel-focused wheel set first.. just don't want it to be terrible on the road for that first 6mo-year
Light Bicycle wheel rims?

Carbon-Ti Hubs & hex finish - hoping to score some new GP5000 S TR for them by the time they turn up.
Graphics I asked LB to copy some MTB wheels they did previously - turned out pimp. LB comms were easy!

do the 28 vittoria's sit flush with the rim or does it balloon a bit?Addict15 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 09, 2021 10:12 pm
I have this exact setup with flyweight rims and I'm very happy with them! I'm around 72 kg usually and use them with 28mm vittoria's, no issues at all. I don't have spoke holes and I would also recommend that, haven't tried them out tubeless yet but it should be very easy. I would opt for the drain holes if I could do it now, but that wasn't an option when I ordered. Btw weight was slightly more than expected: 1409 g vs 1380 according to the website with that spec, but still very light!

Thanks mate, those WR50s certainly sound good.emotive wrote:
I am running 28 spokes at 78kg on all my wheelsets. Never had an issue over 15000km of gravel riding on AR24, AR36 and now WR50.
What hubs are you running?
Hope Pro4 on the AR36. DT240 on the AR24. DT350 on the WR50. The Hope are good but louder than my taste. DT240 are awesome. I think DT350 is the best bang for buck.warthog101 wrote:Thanks mate, those WR50s certainly sound good.emotive wrote:

Maintenance question:
Does one need to check spoke tensions, orientation of the bladed spokes and nipples for corrosion regularly? Or, if you have no problems with the wheel you should not do it?

I just look at things from time to time. Nothing formal, but it is healthy to check the stuff that your life depends on before using.musiclover wrote: ↑Wed Oct 20, 2021 7:49 amMaintenance question:

By regular checks I mean every 3-5 or 10 thousand Kms, not the brand new ones.hartmannce wrote: ↑Wed Oct 20, 2021 7:54 amI just look at things from time to time.
