Good day to one and all been lurking for a bit probably since I did a local hill climb last year.

I have decided to try and build something up to hit a few climbs this season. Living on Exmoor there is plenty of Strava segments to have a crack at and hopefully a few local CCT hill climbs.

Right so budget means budget for me. I actually got given this giant CFR which came with 105 groupset.
Weight for original build was 10.5kg.

So using bits I have in the shed I set out to shed some of the weight.

Frame and forks I got 2300g with headset and seat post clamp so I suspect I could find a lighter starting point, but got to work with the tools at hand.

The pictured build is 8.5kg

It's pretty much now heading towards a single speed as that is the cheapest way to go although not against having gears.

Areas for weight loss bars forks brakes rear wheel...
