I've ridden 54 for the longest time and it worked like a charm but having longer legs and shorter arms (my "wingspan" is 1.5inches smaller than my height) I decided to give 51 a shot. It's now perfection.

In either case 52 and 54 are my favorite looking sizes for this frame!

When I started out roadbiking 10 years ago I had no idea about frame geometries and unfortunately was not consulted properly by the bike salesperson... so I ended up with a frame way too big for me.
So I started to fiddle with the bike to make it fit, i.e. shorter stem, 0mm offset seatpost etc. but it was just the wrong size.

I was ready for an upgrade and went for the Canyon Aeroad, went down two sizes and riding the smaller frame was a revelation. It just fit like a glove at first try.

I'm the other way round than you: longer torso, but shorter legs and arms... that way I still end up with 0mm offset seatposts (short femur bones) and short stem, but I can nicely tuck on the bike and get aero

I did some reasearch about weight savings at the thru axles:

Options would be

• Front Axle 12x100mm by Carbon Ti: 25g https://r2-bike.com/CARBON-TI-Steckachs ... -X-12-Road
  Rear Axle 12x142mm by Extralite: 28g https://r2-bike.com/EXTRALITE-Steckachs ... 2-x-142-mm

The stock thru axles that come with the S-Works frame weigh in at 32g and 34g.
So that would be a savings of 13g for 130€...
Spending 10€ per gram for saving weight at the center of the rotational mass does not sound very cost-efficient...
I will say no for now, gotta save something up for later

Here the weights of the stock SL6 thru axles I'm using... pretty good weight already, especially compared to the thru axles with the integrated handle (which also came with the frame).

I've set up my new custom-built climbing wheels.
Will run them alongside the Roval CLX 50s. However and unfortunately, swapping the wheelsets 1 to 1 is not possible without readjusting the brake calipers. There is a slight difference in alignment, so that the brake pads rub ever so slightly... well, that's what we have to deal with for that "greater braking modulation" with disc brakes, I guess

I do prefer the look of the CLX50 deep section wheels though

Wheelset Build

• Rim: Stan's NoTubes Grail CB7, 24 hole front & rear

• Hubs: Tune Prince / Princess w/ ceramic bearings, carbon endcaps, 6-hole-disc-mount

• Spokes: Sapim CX Ray

The complete wheelset with tubeless tape comes in at 1.154g.
Notice the carbon endcaps on the non-brake-disc-side, and the Lord-of-the-rings-Style inscription on the freehub... they are a nice touch.

- 526g for front wheel

- 628g for rear wheel

I've mounted them with 35mm tubeless valves, Schwalbe Pro One TT tires, 30ml of Stan's sealant.
Brake discs: Hope X2 Race.
Cassette: Dura Ace 11-28

The fully ridable wheelset weights (all batteries included) now compare to following:
Roval CLX 50 w/ Vittoria Corsa Speed Graphe Tubeless: 2.430g
Custom Built w/ Schwalbe Pro One TT Tubeless: 2.047g
That is 383g saved at the wheels.

Weight differences broken down into ridable front and rear wheels:

- Roval CLX 50 rear w/ XTR brake disc: 1351g

- Custom built rear wheel w/ Hope X2 Race disc: 1194g

- Roval CLX 50 front w/ XTR brake disc: 1079g

- Custom built front w/ Hope X2 Race disc: 853g

Due to currently nasty winter weather in Germany, I've only had the chance to ride them for 200km.
Noticably faster acceleration from standing still, and the steeper the climb, the more noticable the difference to the CLX 50.
But at the same time, these wheels do not make a racehorse out of a donkey... and currently in December I'm riding like a donkey

I will follow up with some pictures as soon as the weather permits... until then it is trainer time in the pain cave

You can shim the discs rotors so they are the same distance from the hub. Allows for easy swaps.

MCFK disc brake wheels get you 1275 grams at 45mm I believe. Nice cross between climbing and aero

I've saved ca. 15 grams by changing the Garmin mount for an Alpitude Stelvio mount, the recently released model for Extralite Hyperstem.
Got it from forum member @Werking https://alpitude.cc/ in the Dolomites.






Besides the weight savings, I like that the cockpit looks much cleaner.
One of the original titanium bolts is being replaced with a longer Ti one.
A plate centers the Garmin computer.

Nice craftmanship, works wonderfully.

I've researched both and I prefer the cleaner, simpler look of the Alpitude Stelvio with its single arm.
The Extralite mount to my eyes looks overengineered and too bulky.
Also, I don't need the extra length the Extralite provides since I prefer using the smaller Garmin models, currently the Edge 530.
Edge 1000 series is just too chunky for my taste.

In the end and from functional perspective, both mounts serve the purpose well and hold the computer
