[updated pics] - new Epic EVO Build
Moderator: Moderator Team
I just finished a '21 SWorks Epic EVO build and went with the SRAM Level Ultimate (2 piston) brakes. Around me there are significant climbs (~2,000ft) and long descents on loose trails. I need more bite and brake endurance on the long descents... I was thinking trickstuff piccola but they are super expense and dual piston. Any recommendations without a major weight penalty?
Here are a few pics, came out to 10.28kg with AXS Reverb, no pedals..

Magura MT Trail SL/Carbon.
Four piston front, two piston rear. Great brakes, great warranty. I wouldn't touch Shimano with a ten foot pole. I've got two complete sets of XTR brakes with leaking pistons sitting at my house. Waiting to find some Magura calipers cheap and make a hybrid set using the Shimano levers.
OT: How wide do the new Schwalbe RR 2.35s measure on those wheels?

Realistically that build deserves trick stuff piccolas and anything else would be a compromise.
It’s nice to be able to control the bike with one finger via the power and modulation of four piston front. Particularly on a long, tough descent. Arm fatigue starts to become an issue, especially with a short travel bike designed more with efficiency than comfort in mind.
Also, unless the OP is in Europe, Trickstuff brakes are going to be a paperweight (for a while, at least) the minute something goes wrong. In the US, you can get parts for Shimano, SRAM or Magura at your house the next day.

That's true, for 4 pot XTRs you'll see that on the DH world cup circuit.
That being said i have 4 pots on my bike.... and it's not a DH one. hahah

What about Formula Cura? No idea what is the weight difference, but they will surely be up to the descents. I've run them on my enduro bike and now I have another set on my XC bike too. They've been also run in the DH WC before the 4-piston version came to be. Actually, I think that Bruni won a world championship running them.

I removed all of the quotes as you are replying to each other. Please keep this in mind for the future. All of those quotes make things hard to read.
Thanks!

I'm about to build something quite similar.
Even the same brake color
Did you weight the frameset ?
