The alloy seatpost on my old Bianchi Kodiak weighs about the same as a carbon fiber post, 140 grams, but the hardware at the top for attaching the seat weighs more than the post, 168 grams. I have a 200 gram seat on the way but would like to reduce the mass of the hardware but all I can find is the same cheap, massive stamped steel versions that I already have. If you're wondering why I don't buy a new carbon seatpost with the included hardware, I like the vintage look of the alloy and the fact that older looking components make my bike less attractive to thieves.

Can you post some photos of the mounting hardware?

I was little off on the weights. The steel "Schwinn style" mount weighs 152 grams, the post weighs 144.

Oh, that style of seatpost. Honestly, I wouldn't bother and just get a silver colored seatpost or polish one up. Maybe you can drill the top part through and install a lightweight cradle/yoke system like on image below, but it will require access to machining tools. I think sebk converted integrated seatpost mast this way on his Spark. Darimo makes the lightest lock of this sort.
