After a gentle tubular primer with Contis, I want to try one of the more lauded tyres on another wheelset. Seems to be between Veloflex Criterium and Vitto's Evo SC. Do the Vittorias have to be aged as well for best performance? Reading around the internets it sounded like the Veloflex might run rounder, but the Vittorias have the edge in puncture protection. There's not a whole lot of threads about the Evo SC here unfortunately. Thanks.

Hi,

In order of personal preference:

1/ Veloflex Criterium.
2/ Vitto SC.

The thread on the SC is glued on just like the Criterium (as opposed to being vulcanized) so ,yes , it would benefit from pre-aging.
Whether an SC would be more puncture resistant than a Criterium is a matter of debate. Either way, I would base my choice on mere performance not on a minor theoretical advantage in puncture resistance which in practice often turns out to be merely theoretical and not much else.

Ciao, ;)

Hey fdegrove, if you could provide some details in which areas the Criteriums perform better than the Evo SC, that would be great.

Hi,

Better rolling resistance and more comfortable are the main ones.
