Hello all,
I actually looked at the site to compare weights of wheels, looked at the forum, and thought... what a good place to be
Well here I am. My name is Doug, and I'm a 55 year old retired police officer and formerly, a rotary wing pilot in the UK Army Air Corps.
Ive been building and riding bikes since I was about 10, and I can't see myself stopping anytime soon.
Here's my bike - a 2006 Kona 'the King' scandium frame, with new build.
XTR groupset
Fox RP23 rear
2005 Float R front (re-finished, and with 2006 decals)
FSA Mega exo carbon cranks/external BB
All Ritchie WCS carbon stem, bars, and seatpost.
Fi;zi'k Arionne carbon/Ti saddle
Magura Marta SL hydros.
Hope XC Ti hubs, mavic D521 rims, and Racing Ralphs.
Given the fact that it's a full bouncer, it's extremely light. I estimate the weight at just under 25lbs.
It's a blast to ride, and climbs faster than anything else I've ever ridden.
I hope you like it!!
Regards,
Doug

Looks great!!! Love the cranks and the bar/stem combo. You could drop 1/4 pound with some foam grips, not that you should, but you could, those lock ons are heavy. My one suggestion would be to replace the chainstay protector, the tie wraps look a little busy compared to the rest of the bike, maybe a lizard skin would look more finished.
Wouldn't it be nice if people actually read what you wrote before responding?

marecej definately doesn't have something against Ritchey so it must be something against carbon
Based off your pics, I'm considering a 'carbon' 4axis for myself. Are the decals easily removable?
