Clearly this ride is built around stiffness at all cost. Why the XR200 rims? They are anything but strong. The XC279 ride better and are way stiffer/stronger.
Also, get the X4 Thomson -10 stem and a thinner spacer. Also quite a bit stiffer than the X2.
Nice ride. Will be a fun one!

You are correct, the frame is an exercise in stiffness. Built up right, this could be an attempt at "stiffness weenie". In addition to what you say about wheels and stem, I'd probably go with elite seaport and stiffer crank.
For now, on top of the extra stack from CK headset, the longer stem in -17 will be necessary to achieve the correct position (and aesthetic). I could get x4 in this measure, but I already have the x2 and it is a pleasant looking stem. The xr200 are posted because this is WW and those wheels weigh 1300. But, I will likely use other wheels with this from time to time. Ill consider 279 for my next set. Aren't there some 30mm deep kinlins too?

I would go with the 279s....they ride like butter compared to my XR19w wheelset and I choose to ride them 90% of the time even with a 400 gram difference it weight.
Sweet frame, btw

Nailed it boots. Haven't measured since I quit rock climbing a few years ago, but the difference between my height and my arm span is around 5 inches. I'll post a picture of my mutant proportions sometime. I get it from my dad. Maybe arm length always comes from dad?
Looking forward to seeing this build - reminds me of a Cannondale MTB frame that I had in the late 80s
The problem with a single ring setup on a crit bike, IMHO, is warming up and cooling down.
Maybe if you use a rear wheel with a 28 or sumpn before and after the race, but I never could get going on a 53x23 or anything in that realm.

Good point. I do have a cassette with a 28 but I can't really see myself riding around Santa Barbara without a small ring .

Build is now complete. New pictures on the first post.
How does it ride? Exactly how you'd imagine.
Only thing I am not thrilled about is the seatpost clamp. The clamp id for this bike is 38mm!!! Not many options for that size. However, the clamp that FTW provided me is actually pretty light for something that beefy (24g). There is a clamp by MtZoom in this size claimed at 5-6g and a KCNC clmap that will fit as well. Alternatively, I might just have this one anodized.
It is also missing a high-voltage sticker.
