This was one of the first threads I followed when I joined last year - it's been a lot of fun watching the different stages the build went through in the last year. Absolutely love it - chapeau monsieur!
How did you end up on the Boyds when they weren't on your short list?

Thanks fellas!
I ended up with the Boyd's because I thought they were a great deal for a real aerodynamically shaped carbon clincher with US based after sales support. I have conversed with Boyd and his wife Nicole during the purchase process and they have always responded to questions promptly and helpfully. This gives me comfort for the future should anything happen.
The other wheels in their price range new are V shaped or carbon fairing aluminum braking surface. I had the HEDs as my final choice until I thought about how sick the bike looked with the full carbon clinchers I had before (farsports). I really wanted something deep and have a proven aerodynamic shape.
I haven't had a chance to weight it because I've been riding the mess out of it!!! Twice today!
I will weight it tomorrow, but I don't have hope that it will be any lighter since the wheels are so deep.

Looks awesome ... Still love the Altamira.
How do you find the ride? I heard they were slightly noodley at the rear due to the thin stays, but stiff at the front..

Thanks Mark! I wouldn't say that it is a noodle at all. The large chain stays give it very good power transfer (not that I am very powerful!!) and the thin stays are vertically compliant, but not laterally since they are thin but wide.

can't remember if you said somewhere previously you wanted to keep the fsa stuff, if not, these seem a perfect stealth option, or perhaps a blacked out UNO stem from ebay given their great weight?

Yes, I like the bit of red/white that the FSA brings to the build and how the lines from the stem run into the lines on the handlebars, it looks classy to me and keep the bike from being too stealth. That being said, the 3T stuff would look very nice also!
