Need a recommendation for bar tape
Moderator: robbosmans
Cinelli cork is the most grippy I've used, but for a few years now I've been preferring Fizik. It doesn't have as much grip, but it stays looking fresh much longer and when you take it off the bars it doesn't leave a mess. I think it might be lighter too.

Currently trying Lizardskins and not impressed. Sure it's tacky, but appears to be picking up dirt just by looking at it. Will go back to Fizik or Deda soon enough.

Bontrager had some called sticky tape, but I really like the Speci Roubaix tape when I could find it. It wraps well and feels great.
I think Selle San Marco has some as well that is sticky.

Lizzard skins for me. I like the fact that i dont slip.
Also, do you wear the same socks everyday?
No?
That is the reason why you should change tapes more often when you are sweating more.

+1 on cinelli cork
But I don't get the reactions on here that it leaves messy residue, I'm using cinelli gel cork and it has a silicone band to keep it in place. Is the thinner/normal variant different?

I think the ones that are saying they leave residue are those that use bar tape that has the backing tape on it. I would rather have a tape that does not have this.

Fizik Tacky is better than Lizard Skins especially when you get sweaty.
The Stella Azzura Eleganza tape is very sticky, a little cushy, and really attractive.
I don't know if it's the case for all "sticky" tapes, but this stuff gets dirty pretty easily and is more difficult to clean than other tapes I've been using in recent years - plain jane Deda foam tape, and Fizik Microtex. I've always thought both of those worked just fine when damp, but are not nearly as "sticky" as the Stella Azzura.

I'm a pretty loyal fizik user. The suede microtex tape is usually pretty cheap and doesn't get slippery. Lizard skin is supposed to be pretty good but its pretty expensive often close to twice the cost of the fizik. I like to,go with the less expensive option and replace it more often as my hands sweat profusely during the summer and its nice to be able to change tape more often and not spend an arms and a leg.
