Hi,not sure if this has been covered before,I want to remove the painted finish off a pair of carbon forks,whats the best/easiest method to do it?Can you use chemicals or is it elbow grease only?

I think sanding them down with some fine sandpaper by hand would be best. I have removed and repainted a few carbon parts and it is very easy to do using 600-1000 grid sandpaper. Maybe there are chemicals specially for removing paint from carbon, but don't use standard paintstripper as it will damage the carbon!

PS, make sure you wear some protection and do it either outside or in a well ventilated room because inhaling cf dust can be bad for you.

i did it with a pair of carbon forks with 1000 wet or dry came off easy just be carefull you dont go too far and start getting black dust it could be carbon :D
