Thoughts on building up Bianchi Sprint
Moderator: robbosmans
Hello folks! my name is jay. new member but ive been browsing through weightweenies throughout the years. im looking to get a bianchi sprint rim brake which i found online for sale. i have multiple bikes and im compelled to get a celeste bianchi because i love the color and its hard to find one in my size. im 171cm and i've had a infinito xe and oltre xr3 in 50cm. i no longer have those bikes for various reasons. i tend to buy and sell and i like to try new things i.e road disc, hookless, aero bars, electronic shifting, internal routing, etc. im curious to see what people's thoughts are.

What exactly is the question? It's a decent enough frame to build up if the price is right.

hi. the bike im looking at is $1600 used celeste rim brake 105 groupset. brand new i believe the bike retailed in the upper $2k.i noticed the celeste carry a premium over the black ones. ideally i just want the frameset but its rare to have one in my size pop up for sale. ive seen a celeste infinito xe and its got that glossy, darker shade of celeste which i think looks nicer than the oltre xr3 celeste from previous years. i havent seen a sprint in person so i know it came out the same time as the infinito. i was wondering if the paint was the same? i've read the sprint frameset is around 1000g so im ok with that.
im a recreational rider who likes to build up bikes. with this bianchi, my priorities are mainly aesthetics so my questions are really about the paint quality, how one feels about it seeing in person vs in pictures. i would likely go aero wheels with it like zipp 404s, maybe slam the stem, go for aero bars. i have other bikes that serve different purposes like climbing, comfort, convenience so this bianchi would be my bling bike.

Awesome. You described a lot of my crit bike. 404FCs, cut down steerer, zipp sprint stem and aero bars.
I've never seen an Infinito but based on my experience, it won't be the same color because Bianchi changes the color Celeste on nearly every bike (which seems wild to me). The paint quality on the Sprint is OK. Mine has a lot of chips but it has also been through some pretty hard miles. If you like the look in pictures, it looks just as good in person. Based on your description, I think you'll be a fan. Happy to answer any specific questions you have.

beautiful! i would definitely go celeste bar tape myself. i was looking into a yellow stem and yellow saddle and go for that marco pantani colorway. are there any available that are being sold new? ive come across used itm stems and pantani saddles which fetch big bucks. im curious how that look would go on a sprint. ideally the frame should have a transition into yellow. i saw a picture of a specialissma with that colorway which is just beautiful.Tpduke112 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 14, 2024 11:44 pmAwesome. I'm sponsoring a rider who's on a 2021 Sprint Disc, and need to get her some bits. Bianchi have been less than helpful. Does anyone have part numbers for the replaceable dropout inserts or know of a generic replacement? Also, spec for the thru axles (she has heavy af ones with levers)?
@Tpduke112 if you're able to measure the axles it'd be great ... I'm assuming they're M12x1.5 (by looking at spec of replacement derraileur hangers), but no idea the length or threaded length.RDY wrote: ↑Wed Mar 20, 2024 11:03 amI'm sponsoring a rider who's on a 2021 Sprint Disc, and need to get her some bits. The front is 12x100mm and the rear is 12x142mm, but I may be misunderstanding your question? You are correct that it is an M12x1.5. I think the thread length is 20mm but i'll check when I get home.RDY wrote: ↑Wed Mar 20, 2024 11:14 am@Tpduke112 if you're able to measure the axles it'd be great ... The actual length is never 100 or 142, it'll be more like 112-123 / 158-170 - you measure just the length of the axle, not including the head, then obviously the threaded length. Thanks very much!Tpduke112 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 20, 2024 2:57 pmThe front is 12x100mm and the rear is 12x142mm, but I may be misunderstanding your question? You are correct that it is an M12x1.5.
