It sounds like Factor might be the only mfg to produce a modern aero carbon frame in-house. I wish the list of brands was longer, but in fairness to Trek, them having Quest build their frames is in-line with the industry norm for all of these five figure wunder bikes.

well if you count Factor.. then you gotta cound Giant and Merida. Their frames are modern ..maybe not the fastest, but either is Factor Ostro

Hey mate. Can I ask, when you lowered your stem did you torque the bolts to 5nm? I lowered my stem same level as yours but am aware this puts the bolts below the top cap insert and onto hollow carbon...

I took delivery of this Madone (Size 56) earlier today.

It is a Project One model with the following modifications compared to a standard SLR 9:

- RSL 62 wheels
- 110 mm stem
- Dura Ace Power crankset
- P Zero Race tires

Due to the winter season, it will probably take a couple of months before I can do my first proper ride.

I still need to have it dialled in.

Thought I'd post this from my SLR6 that arrived 2 weeks again. As I was lowering the stem I noticed this defect in the steerer tube!

Not happy at all but long story short, trek are replacing it with an SLR7 for the same price. Pretty happy with that as it saves me 500g for £0 but need to wait a month for the bike to arrive

Also just wanted to ask what tail lights gen7 owners are running? I want the most seemless option available. I've ordered the flare saddle mount but it hangs the light way out behind the saddle which isn't ideal. I'm after something that sits under the saddle or integrates with the seatpost ideally.

Also anyone know if there's a blanking option for the hole in the seatpost, to stop it filling with water?

Madones, Domanes and Emondas are made by Quest. Alloy bikes might be made by Giant.

Curious, are there any truly aerodynamic road bikes that are made at an in-house factory by the selling brand?

As my LBS did the work for me, I can't answer your question. I think that everything have become very complicated after integrated bars became the norm.

Ok cheers. Quite surprised the top cap insert is as shallow as it is, especially after what the Tarmac SL7 went through. Think I'll go carbon paste and 4nm

Interesting picures, thank you. Glad you will get a gen 7 Madone. I have read at the prior pages that the 1-piece aero handlebar is quite flexible. Weight is really good. But I am wondering if it will fit to an older Madone SLR? Perhaps with some adjustments?

I have a madone gen 7 and the handlebar doesn't feel too flexible to me. The bike feels super rigid and fast. Im 70kg and 179, size 56.

I think the handlebar is retrocompatible with the correct spacer set

That sounds great, thank you. I weigh 68kg. Now the question is what retrofit spacers I will need or the correct Trek number.

The Madone gen 7 barstem is not compatible with the gen 6 unless you make yourself a custom headset bearing cover.

My friend ordered new madone SLR gen7 105di2(we are basically the same height), but his plans has changed and he is willing to sell it to me for just a 300$ more than aeroad slx di2.(which I was aiming to buy for a while now.) choice would be obvious for some, but I have made some research and the honest(not sponsored) reviews are saying this bike is a jelly. The cockpit and the bottom bracket stiffness looks like an alu frame bike, also there is no power meter and it's 105 comparing to Ultegra and 4iiii in slx. Another factor is that I am 196cm tall and weigh almost 100 kg which would not help with the stiffness/(ISOflow?) of madone.

I ve seen some broken iso-flow frames online. Not sure how that happened, but Id stick with "classic" design personally. Or past gen Madone
