Has anybody seen these? I thought is was a joke when I seen a guy on ebay selling them and then I searched their site and here they are. It looks like they took the idea from somebody before that had already done that before and decided to put it to production.

They have been used them at Paris-Roubaix for at least 4 years, http://www.bikerumor.com/2010/07/07/pro ... nk-schlec/
Good for cross or gravel rides maybe? ££££ though! They appear to have smaller bowties too to increase the mud/filth clearing.

Convertibles cost more than coupes (usually).
Factory-prepped road going "track" cars stripped of "heavy" options cost more (usually).
Besides, 9 out of 10 "new" things just end up costing more because the manuf wants / needs to make it so.

The Pave's have additional material to encase the bearings and spindle in the areas where, if you removed the plastic from Zeros, they would be exposed. That also made them heavier.
I like the idea of having the metal contact pads at the 90° positions, because this would reduce the main complaint against speedplays: the rocking after pedal wear.
But I don't like the price. It just seems ridiculous. They should have just added the additional metal wear pads to the zeroes. Or, I wish they still would. The visually-similar Coombs pedals are also pretty steeply priced.

My reason for ditching Speedplay's in the first place, couldn't get over the rocking...
The Speedplay rep brought some to our club meeting. I got to hold them. The are indeed heavier than zeros. The rep touted mud shedding for pave or gravel riding.

That seems on par with the gravel bike movement this year.....
