i've ridden it before but today "found" greatest ever ride for me right now. 16 km loop in Kuringai National Park here in Sydney. Too good to be true. The story goes that the first act of our now ex Prime Minister was to have the chip seal upgraded to a very sweet and smooth road. Descending on it today was heaven and climbing took me to new heights!

Picture is connected because after that it was a swim at the beach.

Not me, but from a race I organized (and participated in, further back...) Page Mill Road Low-Key Hillclimb:

Colin Daw, in the US elite road champion jersey, went on to win.

Back in my prime, my times would have been good enough for first place* on that Page Mill hill climb, even riding my flexy 9 kg steel Trek of the era.

* women's division, that is

From a recent hillclimb in the Surrey hills. Nice format, first round is a qualifier, faster 16 into next round. then it's mano a mano in the next 4 rounds.
made the final, lost the final sprint.

Went to Cappadocia Gran Fondo a month ago, finally found a good enough photo to put here.
90 km course, loose asphalt most of the way, undulations(total 1000m elev gain) at the first 70 km and a HC climb (1300m elev gain) up the Erciyes mountain. Worked for our skinny climber, tried to reel in the breakaways but no other team was willing to help, we decided to let them go rather then chase them down and be rolled over by the bunch. The heat (40*C/100*F), the crappy roads and the short climbs had killed me even before the climb started. Gave my half-full bottle to our climber and waved him goodbye, he got 3rd GC. I finished 27th despite being absolutely shattered at the base of the climb.

Me on the far right, our team wears orange-white POC jerseys, the one with the red-white helmet took 3rd.

Also got a video for those interested:

Would think long and hard before climbing another HC climb...

This is why I avoid events like this. To much temptation to smack someone in the mouth when it's "everyone elses fault" some moron cant hold a line and watch a pack...

Back of the bunch, where magic happens...
Those guys were probably trying to hang on and didn't have enough blood going to their brain to ride safely in the bunch.
I don't know if it is in the video but I also avoided a crash in the back of the bunch in the race.
