Just finished - my replica of Dave Stoller's Masi Gran Criterium from Breaking Away - just off the stand and displayed last weekend at the 2016 SANTOS Tour Down Under Legends night - nice buzz to put a bike on a stand under lights.
I keep thinking I should do a modern steel bike but keep getting dragged back to the classics

That's my Casati Gianni 80th Anniversary + Campagnolo 80th Anniversary Super Record.
意大利CASATI 80th ANNIVERSARY纪念版镀金钢管车架,移动的艺术品.

To celebrate Campagnolo’s 80th anniversary, they built a hand-made, limited edition bike, equipped with Campagnolo 80th anniversary groupset. A real beauty.

I'll second that! Breaking away is a fantastic movie about more than cycling. With excellent acting. American Flyers is silly and the stereotypes had me laughing out loud at times. :beerchug:

10sp Chorus, 3ttt stem and bars, Brooks leather ribbon and Regal saddle. The ceramic rims are boat anchors so now all I need to do is built a set of nice wheels with Nemesis rims...

This is nice!
What tubing?
So the rear mech is connected to the Ergopower and the frontmech is handled by a downtube shifter. Why?

It's Columbus Gara tubing. I bought the frameset in April 1996. And as "wingnut" said, in the 1990s riders like Jalabert, Pantani, Zulle, Armstrong and Ullrich used these setups to save some weight.
