2013 SSE HM / Campy

Recently got hold of a brand new 2013 SSE HM 56 frame set in black with green details on ebay. Will be building it up with Campy from my Ti bike.
I was sure i would be changing the colour of this, not being a big fan of green but it actually looks quite good and retro in real life. You can see the carbon underneath either as a result of thin black paint or black paint not being applied in certain sections. It doesnt look to have as much carbon shown as the raw finished on here though.

Finally got the parts for my build but have encountered some clearance and alignment issues on the NDS chain stay and seat stay.

With a Farsports 23 x 50 clincher. Approx chainstay clearances: 1.5-2mm NDS. 3-4mm DS. Seatstay looks a good 2mm off towards the NDS.

Wheel rotated so casette is on NDS. Problem shifts to opposite side, assume this means the wheel is the problem?

Different rear wheel Farsports 23 x 50 tubular. Clearances looks very even at chainstay and seatsay. Maybe 1mm difference at chainstay towards the NDS so fine to ride.

Can i conclude this is a wheel dish problem give the problem shifts to the other side when the wheel is rotated and the fact a different wheel seems centered?

Yes, if the wheel is true, that's a dish problem. LBS should be able to fix it. Depending on the DS tension, you may get away with tightening/loosening spokes on one side but if you've never trued a wheel, probably best to take it to your LBS. I don't think it's worth an exchange but that's just me. If it's out of true on the other hand, it may have other issues, maybe shipping damage.
Good luck with the ss evo. That's a clean specimen. I have a 2014 with a newer fork. Love the classic proportions.

Actually these wheels were recently trued by someone but not sure on their competency. I'm now thinking they just trued them without checking the dish. So I can confirm as of around 4 weeks ago the wheels were perfectly true and not hit any pot holes. So it is sounding like a dish problem. Based on the offset direction does this mean the NDS spoke tension is higher than the DS this pulling the rim towards that side, or doesn't it work like that? Never trued a wheel but wouldn't mind learning. Thanks
Not exactly. The DS spokes are always (unless triplet laced) higher than the NDS because of the bracing angles. To fix the dish, the DS to NDS tension ratio needs to be increased. Depending on the max tension the rims can take, you may either tighten the DS spokes or loosen the NDS spokes, or a combination of both. The challenge with some hubs is that if the distance of the flange from center is too great on the NDS, the tension for NDS spokes will be too low when the dish is set, which will then require the DS spokes to be tightened further, at times, exceeding the max tension the rims can take. If you pluck the spokes, you'll hear the difference in pitch. Setting proper dish can be tricky sometimes since it's a balancing act of max tension on the DS and tension too low on the NDS.
I would take the wheel back to the shop who trued it and they should fix it at no cost. Setting proper dish is part of truing a wheel. If it is unknown who trued the wheel, I would take it to your LBS. Good luck!

Hey, nice ride! How is the weight like? Any details on individual parts weights also?

I haven't weighed it yet, I'm guessing not too light. Probably around the 6.5 - 6.75kg mark. I can shave quite a bit of weight from the brakes, headset and crank, which i will do the next time its in bits. Also running heavy tubes and clinchers.RouarierDmer wrote: ↑Sun Mar 24, 2024 8:22 pmHey, nice ride! How is the weight like? Any details on individual parts weights also?

Having spent the last month scouring eBay and FB marketplace I have managed to snag some serious deals on three sets of wheels. I have told myself one pair needs to go. I really like the oldschool look of the Zipps on this frameset, and due to their dimpled finish, they dont show age related marks like high gloss Campy ones do. I think the bright label bora's need to go, but annoyingly these are as new condition, whereas the dark label arent. I think decal heavy frame + decal heavy wheels is too much. Thoughts?
I also played around with another NOS SSE Gen 1 frameset that i have. I can'y decide if i should keep this or sell it on.
