I'm still pretty unsure about the wheels to be honest. I definitely want carbon tubs around 30-40mm in depth, but that's about the only decision I have made. Been looking at the Campagnolo Bora One 35 and the Bontrager Aeolus 3 D3. I like the look of the Bontragers because they are quite understated, which I think would look good, but I don't know if they would be stiff enough. Looking at photos and reviews, the NDS spokes don't seem to be very far offset from the centre of the hub, in my mind that doesn't equal good stiffness, but I may be talking absolute nonsense... Any thoughts?

Part of me is very tempted by a set of Enve 3.4's, but that would really blow the budget, and they aren't exactly light.

Well if you want carbon tubs then what I would do is use a chinese sourced rim, the a number of good ones I have found some in fact I have a couple in the shop to be laced with Dura Ace 9000 hubs in 18H/24H. Madison are bringing out the 18H front DA hub in November, I alsong with other wheelbuilder for sure have them on back order. Miche supertype hubs are another possibility in the same drillings, they have a really wide rear flange seperation, the Miche SWR14 also come in a 2:1 spoke pattern fro the rear with the same geometry as the supertype hubs they will make very stiff wheels.

There are a few wheel builders that do carbon wheels and the advantage of going custom you get understated, top end hubs and a very stiff wheelset that does not blow you buget like ENVE's would.

Thanks for the advice guys. Finally came to a decision today and ordered a set of Campagnolo Bora One 35 Dark Label tubs. They were the ones I wanted the most, so decided to go for them. Due at the end of November I think.

Looks like it's going to be a great build, what's the paint going to look like?

Only thing I'd query is the DA 9000 cassette given that they have a habit of self destructing (unless you have a 2015 model year one?)

Thanks. I'm going to order a 2015 one at some point over the next few weeks, so hopefully it won't be an issue. I have Shimano on all my other bikes, so wanted to keep things as cross compatible as possible, and with Campag and Shimano 11 speed groups having virtually identical cassette spacing, it should work.

The paint is hard to describe, but I have a sketch that I did that I can post when I'm home from work if people are interested? It's mainly a sort of light pearl blue, with polished chain & seat stays, and pearl white on the tip of the fork, seatpost and stem in the shape of a lug(like I said, hard to desctibe!).

Finally got an update on this build. The frame has been with the painter for the last few days and the first few pics just went up on his Facebook page(https://www.facebook.com/groups/112065968881234/):

The fork, seatpost and stem will also be painted in the pearl blue colour, but with a pearl white detail at the end of each.

The groupset and wheels are due with the distributor on November 15th, so hopefully they will be with me some time before the 22nd. Plan at the moment is to head down to pick it up/build it on the 28th of November, unless I get the groupset earlier than expected in which case it will be the 21st or 22nd.

Getting rather excited about this now!

Cheers guys! The painter is done, and has put a few more photos up including the fork, stem and seatpost, so I have included a few of these below. Just waiting for the Campagnolo importer to get my groupset and wheels together and then I can get her built!
