Hayes Hydraulic Hose Barb Busted - Use SRAM Olive?

Well - i effed up the install on my rear Hayes Stroker Gram and used up my only spare hydraulic hose barb.

None of the shops have one so I've used an Avid/Sram olive and screw. Seems to be holding but have not done any hard braking with it yet.

Anyone try this before?

Yes- I googled and found nothing that applied to this as far as cross compatibility of hose barb/ olive fitment etc

OK - follow up report

Yes, after two hours of moderate riding, climbing and descending max 20ish mph it held up. No leaks.

Fantastic modulation, gobs of power however it took quite a bit of lever travel to lock up the rear.

Interesting thing is the Hayes hose diameter was slightly larger externally than they Avid/SRAM olive.

I had to spread the opening of the olive slightly by tapping with the end of a presta valve extender. Also the larger inner diameter hose required I use a bit of teflon tape wrapped around the Avid/Sram hollow screw.
