Cervélo R3 made in same factory as Scott Addict?

Just seen something to suggest that the R3 is made in the same factory as the Scott Addict. I can post the photo soon, not sure if this is a "secret", maybe you all know already? After all, many frames and components are made in Taiwan by specialist composites companies for the major bike brands.

Most bikes that claimes to be "made in Taiwan" are actually made in China.
Most Taiwanese composite factories has moved their production facilites to China because the salary and costs are much lower than in Taiwan.
After the production they ship then to their main office in Taiwan where they are allowed to put a "Made in Taiwan" sticker on if they pay 3% Taiwanses tax or something like that.
I beleive both Scott and Cervélo are made in China too.

I've heard from someone with a fair bit of knowledge that they're indeed from the same factory. Perhaps the new IMP technique used on the Addict is what also makes the R3 that stiff...

My understanding as told by Scott, is that nothing else is made in the same factory as them.

There may be other brands made by the same manufacturer but not in the same factory. I'm told that Scott actually owns the building that their frames are built in, so that they can help make sure nobody outside of Scott has access to their technology. They don't allow any other brand to be made in their building.

True or not? I don't know, but it does come from a reputable source who really doesn't have any reason to lie about it. It's the same person that told me 6months before the addict was shown, that they would have ISP's. It's also the same person that told me a month ago, that now all the addicts would be coming WITHOUT isp's. He was right on both accounts, I don't know why I'd doubt him about the factory.

Ten-Tech Composites is a Taiwanese company (Republic of China), who have a factory in Dongguan, People's Republic of China.

Call me a cynic, but I think Chinese attitudes toward intellectual property may become a challenge for Scott. I wish them luck.

I don't blame them for not showing production lines. Generally they look very low-tech and almost sweatshop like. Anyone thinking it looks like F1 production will have a harsh wake up call

Scott have no worries about intelectual property... That's a company run by a guy that's been around a few blocks and fully understands what they are into. They're building a good bike...



It's the consumer that thinks a knock off that looks similar will have the same build quality...


The look on someone's face when they find out their Bvulgari Chrono is fake is very near the same look someone has as they're going over the bars...


Scott have had an enviable track record so far, regardless of where they're made.

Ah yes, Ten Tech. That brand name was also shown on the seatstays of the Saunier Duval CR1's for at least one season. An employer of TTC also once posted here, you might wanna do a search.


@Pez: regardless of where Scotts are made, no-one's doubting their quality here. And R3's are equally astounding bikes (maybe except for the finish) so it's no shame in my book if they'd come from the same factory or something.
