Sarto Lampo Plus - New bike day !!
Moderators: MrCurrieinahurry, maxim809, Moderator Team
Hi all,
Its been a while, but felt the itch for a new ride... Wanted something aero for fast flat rides .... Here is the Spec...
Frame\Forks\Seatpost - Sarto Lampo Plus
Stem\Bars - Sarto 2 piece (I really wanted the two piece over their 1 piece as just loved the look of the stem even though it is a big chunk of carbon)!
Group - Campag SR Wireless 10\27
Cranks - THM Cavicula SE - Carbon Ti 39\53
Wheels - (controversial) Xentis Mark 3 SL
Tyres - Veloflex Corsa Evo TLR 28mm
Saddle - Berk Lupina
Pedals - Look Keo Carbon Ceramic Ti
Weight - 7.8Kg as pictured
I know that the wheels are a bit marmite, but I am really pleased with them - Looks and performance wise... but yes not to everyones taste.. I have had lots of high end wheels and just fancied trying something a bit different ....
Hope you like it !!
Cheers,
Lig.

Weird, even though my post posted it came up as a preview so I submitted hence twice.
Many thanks for your kind comments guys....
Cheers,
Lig.
I like that a lot

Not wild about the wheels but the bike looks awesome anyways.
Something funny I noticed though is that the fit numbers are literally exactly what I use on my road bike. My saddle height is 790mm, my saddle nose to stem center is 600mm, and my saddle is 268mm long. If you ever get the desire to ride a 2005 CAAD8 Cannondale, all you need is a 130/-6 stem, a setback post, a 56cm frame and a 25mm spacer underneath
Since this is a custom build, why did you go with a spacer stack under the stem instead of just lengthening the head tube?

Hi Rothwem and thanks...
I did used to have an old Cannonale CAAD, can't remember the model but it had really nice 'wavy' seatstays when looking at it from the rear?!
As for your Q about the spacers, I did ask the exact same Q... I sent Sarto a tech drawing of a previous frame build and my measurements and the drawing you see is what they came back with... They said if they make the head tube longer with no spacers it will make the top tube shorter?!?!?!, this is how they designed it to be. I am sure I could remove the spacers tbh, but just thought I would ride it as designed and it feels mighty fine indeed !

It sortof makes sense I guess. The headtube is angled back at 73*, so for every ~10mm or so of extension, it'll go back ~3mm. That applies to spacers too though, so I don't really see where it makes the difference.Lig wrote: ↑Tue Aug 13, 2024 7:59 pmHi Rothwem and thanks...

Either way though, cool bike, spacers or not. If you get tired of it, just send it over here to Asheville, I'll take care of it
Yeah, I thought the same... But I guess they know what they are doing?!?! However I think I would rather have it as it is, than an extra 10mm of white headtube. I am 6ft4 and large bikes can often look 'wrong' .. I was slightly worried about this with it being such large tubing at the front end. You can't really see in the images but the stem is 'massive' ... But really pleased how it has turned out and overall looks well proportioned (to me anyhoooo)...
Thanks again..

So nice to see a recent Sarto. Always curious how many of their bikes are still in the peleton. Rumor was they could take a stock frame and customize the geo for whomever needed it. Probably a thing of the past but who knows. Sarto knows, thats who. I consider Parlee, Casati and Sarto as some of the best to have done it.

Hi Mike, yeah I like the wheels. I really didn't know what to expect, but they just caught my eye and I was curious to try them (and I got them at a good price).
The whole bike has exceeded my expectations. In comparison to my Festka with LWs, the Sarto rides a lot smoother and absorbs shocks a lot more, now I don't know if this is the frame or the wheels or a combo of both. They spin up similar to the LWs and (I will know for deffo tomorrow when I do my fast route) but I think they are faster on the flat, they seem it but I have only done a couple of rides and that could be with 'new bike energy' but I will know tomorrow when I do my timed route. I guess they should be faster with the aero claims, unless that is all marketing blurb!
They do come in heavier than the LWs at exactly 1500g (LWs are tubs, Xentis clincher with TPU tubes) and I can feel the additional mass when climbing (7.8Kg Sarto v 7Kg Festka) of course the Sarto frame is heavier too. At some point I will swap the wheels between bikes for a better comparison, but I will need to buy a N3W freehub body for the LWs and adapter for the Xentis...... I will let you know what difference the clock says tomorrow but it will be interesting to see what difference an 'Aero' bike makes!
