Frederick rodenberg that's usually in the 4 km team has been injured shortly before, and one of the other riders has been battling with a concussion earlier in the year. So it has been quite a scrappy run in to this years olympics

so when you design several laps in a crowded downtown after few hours of racing, wouldn't it be smart and just humane to put a toilet for riders, for instance somewhere in the feed zone area?

That's my new goal in life - to have a massive crowd give me a standing ovation for taking a piss. :D
From what I understand he needed to do something more substantial than a piss...

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Pursuit qualifying into the first round goes like this:

6 v 7
5 v 8
2 v 3
1 v 4

Then, winners of heats 3 and 4 race in the gold medal match up.

Then, the fastest two TIMES of all of the six remaining teams race for bronze.

Then, they have races for places 5-8. Is that correct? And, does anyone actually race the 5th - 8th place races?

I'm not certain for the pursuit, but I'd think they will race for places 5-8. I believe they did it that way for the women's team sprint I watched the other day.

But that would make sense if the events were all the same so it's probably done some other way :-)

Yes, they race for 5th-8th

the olympics website and their schedule is quite informative actually. Rules are explained there for every event.

Are Jefferson Alveiro Cepeda and Jefferson Alexander Cepeda related? Both from Ecuador. Different birth places.

Cousins. I think they go by Jefferson and Alexander to avoid confusion.

Australia going 3:40.7mins in the 4k teams pursuit, I remember when they first went under 4 minutes.
I remember that too, and I remember thinking "there's no way of going much faster than that"

I won’t pretend to know how much money USA Cycling puts into the women’s team pursuit but with the riders they have, I wonder how fast they could go with GB-level support.

I think they could approach 4:00 or even dip under with some technological assistance.

Does anyone know what happened to Hayter in the team pursuit finals? Did he suffer an equipment failure or did he just slide off the nose of the saddle?

Hayter said his entire body went limp. He gave it everything and his body shut down. "He found his limit." He focused on not crashing but couldnt lift himself back up onto his saddle!

Motor doping on track, had it been done on the world's biggest stage?

This is pretty huge. USADA corrupt to the core on doping
Pretty rich considering how much shit the Chinese athletes have been getting at being accused of doping
They better be looking at US athletes and they really need to right some of these coverups.
