Yeah. Astigmatism gives the star effect around bright lights. There was a big thing in some of the UK papers 2/3 years ago. But i was told years ago by my optician.
Contacts are always a bit of a compromise with astigmatism, mines only mild so they make no attempt with contacts and only fix it on my glasses.
My other half has "proper" contacts that fix astigmatism, but it's a lot worse than mine.
My contacts have a cylinder value of -0.75 R and -2.25 L. The left eye is the one that causes trouble, I think the -2.25 is the most extreme level of correction with most contacts so beyond that you’re outbid luck. There’s also the fact that astigmatism correcting contacts can be felt on the eyeball, moreso than regular spherical contacts.

Well damn. I have astigmatism (just enough to need driving glasses) and no optician ever told me this was a symptom. I just thought bright lights were this nasty for everyone

A simulated example:

My contact lenses don't seem to fully correct it.

I might have astigmatism then I guess. Funny how this topic turn out, when I noticed the issue more with shorter darker days here in belgium
Or night myopia . Maybe both ? Not hypocondriac
Young and last time I was checked a few years back, 10/10 vision both eyes,
28 years old now, quite some time each day on computer screens ...

Driving in the morning, and afternoon especially when fall and winter begin , i have kind of these star light effects
It's worse when driving than when riding a bike,
Usually wear oakley ev path zero prizm trail i think for longer dark rides , drives
or Something very light orangeish
