The chain and narrow/wide chain ring need to match. See info at wolftooth about the chain differences. The axs sprockets are not as picky. The smaller roller on non axs chains will still work.

The only ones I know so far who produce AXS compatible chainrings for older cranksets are Carbon-Ti. Not sure if they make AXS chainrings for a Shimano crankset though. That doesn't seem very logical.

The Carbon-Ti AXS ring work great with my Red AXS FD. They got the timing ramps right and the tooth profile is good for shifting.

When I had AXS, I ran with Garbaruk's 1x chainring 110, 5 arm chainring. No issues.

I'm using Sram Force AXS shift system with 50/37 Carbon-Ti AXS compatible chainrings on Rotor 3D 110bcd x 5 crank. Works great! Absolute Black also offers 12 speed chainrings, but I'm not sure if they're designated as AXS compatible.

I use an Easton direct mount 1x chainring for my hybrid setup (Force AXS shifters, Eagle AXS rear mech, Eagle 10-50 cassette, XX1 12spd chain).
I've ordered a pair of Rotor AXS 4 bolt rings that should be here in a couple of weeks.
I was told that their standard 4 bolt rings will also work with AXS if used with a KMC / Shimano 12 speed chain (not the sram flattop).
But as others have said, Carbon-Ti are the ones to buy if you can justify the £££.

I have a couple of friends running Force AXS shifters, FD, RD with non-SRAM chainrings and chain and cassette (2x setup). Chains and cassettes are ZTTO 12-speed cassette and chain (so they could continue using their wheels with HG freehubs). Not sure of the chainrings, but I think they're just 11-speed cranks/rings they already had.
