If you want to drop that anchor of a seatpost, this may be of interest.
I just heard back from Scott at 3T customer service and here's what he had to say.

The RaceMax seatpost has a cost of $140.00 USD and will have a $10.00 USD freight fee applied to the order. The Ritchey seatpost clamp (saddle to post clamp) will have to be purchased separately (not included). Currently, 3T does not sell the Ritchey clamp.

Here is a link to the compatible Ritchey clamp for your reference: https://us.ritcheylogic.com/us_en/wcs-a ... e-clampset

Please be sure to select a Ritchey clamp that is compatible with your saddle rails when sourcing one.

The RaceMax seatpost is a different length than the Exploro classic post. Please provide a measurement from the top of the seat tube on your Exploro to the center of the saddle rails. I will then be able to tell you if we have a post that is long enough to achieve the same fit.

The other very important detail to mention here is that the Exploro RaceMax seat post is NOT compatible with the Strada frameset. The use of an Exploro seatpost with the Strada frame will void the warranty.

The idea of fitting an Exploro seatpost into a Strada frame has been discussed previously but I can't remember where, probably mentioned in a few threads, including my Strada build. I believe they will fit if you sand it down a bit but I haven't done this personally. If it works, this may be another way, perhaps the quickest, cheapest and easiest. If anyone has fitted an Exploro seatpost into a Strada, please share details.
Any idea, how much weight we are talking about?

As I am tracking our options are as follows:
1. Wait for Darimo (probably $300 + when/if ever available)
2. Mod the current post like you did
3. Exploro seat post (unconfirmed fit)

I think it was significantly lighter. My guess was that it would be close to the modded seatpost weight. That Ritchey clamp is $20 so this would be a reasonable cost. I based my guess on previously owned Ritchey WCS seatpost and the weight of the Strada seatpost tube section. Both are pretty light.

Had a read through this thread as ive also just bought a strada due (aiming for 7.5-8ish depending on cost as mines an XL and its going to be an aero build!)

Thought I'd chime in with my two cents regarding sme of the above discussion:
Seatpost wise I will need the (out of stock) XXL post and though about making my own the correct length to work with an off the shelf Tune style clamp set up while i wait for a restock/second hand one too pop up. ( I used to work for a Uk bike manufacturer and have the lay up files for a seatpost on my laptop still) Moulds should be pretty easy to make if i can get hold a CAD file for the profile/ slightly harder if i have to make the file first ha. Weight wise id expet it to be a hell of alot lighter than the stock post (dont expect it to be anywhere near the darimo weight though!)

Although doesnt the Ekar strada build come with the 3T WCS clamp post? So they be in the works as an offical retro fit soon surely!

I got the new Racemax seatpost for my Exploro LTD a few days. (Posted in the New Racemax thread so apologies for redundancy). The post is 95g. With the Ritchey clamp and swapping the steel bolt for a Ti bolt the total is 145g. So from the Charlie post I saved 114g. It’s a glossy finish and looks great, infinitely easier to adjust. I’m on a similar quest, to get my Exploro to UCI weight. I’m at 6.95kg now with SRAM Force/Eagle AXS 1x setup.

The racemax fits in the exploro and strada; is that what you're saying?

Scott at 3T customer service replied with this when I asked about it just yesterday:

At this time I am not aware of a design change to the Strada seatpost.

I guess it could still be possible but I would think people in the company would know about it.

Deliveries are trickling in... Damn Covid and USPS shipping..

Anyway, the Hutch Fusion5 Performance tires came in.. Pretty sweet, I haven’t touched a road tire in years, and they are so tacky compared to the Gravelkings I’ve been riding on my gravel bike.

Still waiting for my Rotors, AER Bearings and handlebars..

514 Grams.. Not to shabby for something with a bit more protection on it.

Hmm interesting it was definetley on the spec lists of the complete build on the website last week i note that when i checked this morning that none of the strada/ standard exploro specs now list what seatpost the frame/bike comes with (again they did when i was checking specs last week before i purchased my frame) yet the exploro race/ max still do.

But from the 3t blog/press release on the ekar bike it seems that this was a website error that has been corrected. Which is a shame.

Hi Gerard,

In the specs for this new Campy special release, it mentions a “New 3T Charlie Sqaero Team w/ Ritchey WCS Clamp.”

Will this new clamp/seatpost be available for those with existing Strada frames to replace the….less than ideal design of the old clamp?

That spec listing is actually an error, but a new Strada seatpost will be available early 2021.

The parts keep rolling in.. The only thing keeping me from a potential full build is the Zipp Sl70 Aero 38cm bars that have yet to arrive..

Today I received the following:

1. Cane Creek AER headset bearings; went from 62 to 43 grams off the original Headset
Image

2. Shimano RT-99 Rotors; 202 grams with centerlock nuts
Image

So current build with what I have on order is sitting at: 7030 Grams with some estimations (Zipp handlebars should be sub 240 gr but kept it at 240g for calculation right now)

The boat anchor parts in the order which they will be modified or swapped out are:
1. Force AXS 10-33 Cassette @ 267g
2. Seatpost @ 228g
3. Easton EC90SL Wheelset @ 1464g

My steer tube will need to be cut so hopefully shave 10 grams of the 371g fork
Hopefully my handlebars will be close to 230g

Need to shave off 330 grams.. Oh Joy!!

Great build.
I'm hoping to put together my Strada soon as well.
Did 42 &47mm CC bearings work without any issues?

I ordered the 41.8mm and 47mm AER bearings and they dry fit perfeclty.. There is still confusion on my part as to the difference in labeling of the 41.8 vs the 42mm top bearings..

The Strada OEM bearings are labeled 41.8 and 46.9.. Obviously they are super close to 42/47.. So I am unsure if its a labeling thing from company to company.. But so far so good

One thing I noticed is the Stock top headset bearing sticks out by 2-3mm and the CC AER bearing only sticks out by 1-2mm.. Not sure if this will be an issue, but it dry fit just fine with no play or wiggle
