DT Swiss have not been present in top level racing for a while now so they might have splashed some swiss francs around, I wouldn't be surprised if they were paying a lot more than Campy for Lotto-Soudal, enough that even buying Shimano parts ends up increasing the team's budget.BdaGhisallo wrote: ↑Tue Oct 19, 2021 11:25 pmI can only wonder why they are giving up Campy sponsorship to go with Shimano that they will get no sponsorship funds to use or may have to purchase at worst.
I wonder if DT Swiss or KMC are paying enough to compensate for that?

That’s not an angled headset, Ridley uses a D shaped steerer just like Factor and others

All bikes are painted with unique colors and most of them with custom 3D printed handlebars which are very important for the athletes.
We please ask our community of followers and fans to report to infobike [at] pinarello.com if you see any of these bikes being sold online or around.

Wtf, how do you even plan to make money on 1:1 bikes that everyone will notice if they come up for sale?
Still amazed this happens as frequently as it does.

Targeted theft by a collector with hired goons. Teams should just pay the hotel staff extra to guard the parking lots overnight (though it could be just as likely that the security at the hotel were paid to look the other way too.)
Not unlike a car chop shop...maybe they probably sell parts only & scrap the framesrobbosmans wrote: ↑Sat Oct 23, 2021 5:26 pmWtf, how do you even plan to make money on 1:1 bikes that everyone will notice if they come up for sale?

This is such garbage. Shouldn't be a problem but sadly this is the reality. Protect your bikes. Don't expect that the hotel will do it. Do expect that there are professional thieves following you at all times just waiting to strike. Take the damn bike into the hotel room with you at night if you can't arrange 24 hour professional security. This is totally on team management. I guess there is more to winning a bike race than just riding fast.
Yes, will be sold for parts.

These are track bikes though…the only parts of significant value that aren’t proprietary are the wheels and cranksets.
…though I guess there was at least one geared Bolide TT there…

apparently some road bikes along with the track bikes. Also, stolen from an unsupervised van sitting outside the hotel.

Sure the bikes are 1:1, but thats due to what? a paintjob? 3D printed handlebars?
They will have to get new paintjobs o nthe framesets and buy handlebars, but the profit well exceeds the cost.
