Currently working on my new Emonda and building it up light as I can with the sensible everyday bike feel.



It's probably going to go back to 2x11 Sram Red but currently it's 1X

Bontrager XXX bar and stem combo
Spada Brevet wheelset 990g - Veloflex Sprinter tubs

Dura-Ace 9100 pedals




Guys any hints would be mega! Has anyone used the XXX shift and brake cable sets? I've heard they are only grams lighter and not worth the fuss?


I don't have brake calipers (direct mount) and currently deciding on either

EE limited (the pink and silver preorders-150g for pair) £400 anything knocking around second hand?

or just bontrager speedstop Pro (190g for pair) £200

Also holding out for a XXX saddle as no stock available.

Went with bontrager speedstop Pros, they look really nice and feel a big notch above the normal bonty speedstops

Bontrager cables are just Jagwire Elite Link. Well worth it. I run them on 3 bikes. They last forever. Just swap inner cable, or inner liner when needed.

I have recently fitted:

Sram Red Left shifter
Sram Red rear mech
Sram Red front mech
Dura ace 9100 chainrings - 52/36
Sram red 1190 11-28t
Schmolke expander and carbon bolt

Bike currently weighs 5.92kg

Bought but not fitted
Sram Red cranks -minus 100g
Deda tape-minus 52g
C59 saddle-minus 75g (can use the SLR 7x9mm ears I have with this saddle to lose another 20g apparantly.)

So getting near the 5.7kg mark and onto £3/Gram which is getting a bit pricey and don't see too much more happening, perhaps tubulars tyre change if I can find something light and grippy that doesnt puncture or a wheelset swap but that's £5/gram for 170g saving. Perhaps Link outer cables too but dont think the weight saving makes sense.

been trying to find some light pedals, working out if Ti speedplays will be worth it, also trying to find aerolites/ultralites.

It's the daily training bike too. Absolutely love it!

Really classy looking bike, well done.
I guess the obvious weight saving is a wheelset swap but as you say, not cheap. Plus if the bikes getting a lot of use you don't want to make it too fragile, always a compromise I guess but its inspirational, the bike is stunning.

If you want 160mm cranks with power why not go Rotor? Not the lightest option but lighter than 105.
