A neighbor gave me a 11/36 cassette and a “SRAM XO” long cage RD. I’m thinking to put on my CX as I usually ride that like touring.

Current on my CX I have a compact rival 50/34. So what chainring would I need up front so I can use this cassette and RD?

I tried it and in 50T was way too short even though already lengthen the chain.

Thanks

Edit: neighbor wanted to keep the deore and instead gave me a SRAM XO 10sp RD. I don’t mind since it’s free..

Depends which model, latest one has a capacity of 43t so with 11/36 and 34/50 you are well within spec on every count.

Not directly related to your question but just note that shimano road shifters dont play too well with shimano mtb rear derailleurs

Correction... now it’s a SRAM XO... he’s keeping the deore.

So how come can’t shift up when in 50t in front? I left a lot of links but looks like the legs will be overly stretched?
