Haven't seen many reports of successfully tuning Etap FD in conjunction with oval chainrings.
If you are one of those with oval, how is shifting?

Oval rings and eTap really don’t mix all that well. Some FD hangers seem to allow for adequate shifting quality, yet others will cause nothing but frustration. I know Nef eventually went back to Shimano and I just decided to stay on round rings until I convert to 1x.
What’s worse is that AB chainrings don’t have anti-drop pins, so if you throw your chain over the big ring, you might have a very bad day.

I’ve had the 2x oval AB setup on 2 different bikes and while I got it shifting pretty well, occasionally I would drop a chain. Didn’t bother me but I’ve never found myself in a pickle when it drops either.
I’ve gone to oval inner only and have had the chain drop once but my chain was due for a waxing so this may be a symptom of chain condition and not the oval inner.

Dropped chain twice with Di2 until it was properly dialed in and never with eTap(both bikes have Quarbon's).

I'm running AB oval chainrings on my SL6 using SRAM Red eTap and in my experience if you take your time setting up the fd it shifts very good. Remember that SRAM eTap does a slight overshift to get the chain on the large chainring so use your bike stand and take your time, the setting is very sensitive but once you get it right I have found it to work well.
I'm not going back to the standard round rings.

Dropped chain twice with Quarbon's. Once adjusted, not one incident.wheelsONfire wrote: ↑Tue Mar 19, 2019 8:42 pmHaven't seen many reports of successfully tuning Etap FD in conjunction with oval chainrings.

I have rotor q-rings on my plasma 5 with etap. As per other comments took a while to get it dialled (overshift was annoying to start dumping the chain over the big ring). Now have the adjustment just right and it’s been fine - albeit there aren’t that a many front shifts in the TT courses

Yep, they started phasing them out last year.
