Gents, ladies,

Please, please, please! I ask you to show that the people who visit Weight Weenies have got quite a lot of common sense.
  • When you see something you like and you want to respond to that, ask yourself if it is necessary to hit the quote button. Try hitting reply and refer to what you have seen, as you were going to type something anyway.
Do repeat the question some one just asked in real life as well? I know the answer.

It is getting annoying to clean complete threads from multiple times quoted pictures and conversations between members who constantly quote each other. Please use the quote button as less as you can. it makes our community better to read and live in.
  • First time poster? great, thank you for joining our forum! Please contribute to it and show that you have some bicycle knowledge, before you ask if the hanger you broke on your half a year old frame is warranty or not. Because, when you would have contributed to the forum, you would have found out that questions like those hardly get asked on here. really, those questions are better off on bikeforums.com.

  • Not completely agreeing with a forum member? It is quite easy to start calling names, or just be an enormous DoucheB towards the other. You are indeed the coolest kid on the block, but getting away from your screen and keyboard and go for a ride. You will soon see that the issues you had with the other person are just not needed. Be the wisest and walk away with your head held high.

Other gripes and thoughts will be added to this thread as we go along.

We should clarify the etiquette on quoting.

If you're posting right after the post you're responding to, there is no need to quote, just hit reply. Quoting is fine when your reply is a few posts after, or on a different page, but the quote should be edited down to only the post that you're responding to, the entire discussion isn't needed. Also, remove any images from the quote that aren't relevant to the discussion.

My biggest grip is that very minimal weight weenie type discussions. The main Road forum is filled with threads that are more suited for BikeForums. I've been guilt of this as well, mainly because I prefer this forum, even when discussing general stuff. Maybe we create a new forum that is just for misc. mechanical questions? There is a lot of knowledge here, and getting info from another WW'er who understands is more valuable.

You guys know you can remove the quote button right?

Its just deleting one line of code. You just need FTP access to the website and then edit the style

Isn't there's irony in a post about overuse of the quote button when your signature has two quotes in it?

We love irony around here, because it's what steely is made from. And steely is really.
