If you don't go Black/White then go with a Fluo Green like this Wilier

On other news, in my opinion paint that bad boy something bright... Lampre pink (or a neon version of it) springs to mind. As good as stealth black is, you build bikes differently to other people, and therefore I think your frames should be displayed differently. Not 'hidden' behind a shadow of black, something that turns heads because it screams badass... Bright, loud and hot.

:beerchug:
I'll see, I'll have to decide and probably you guys can help me here :). I'll just send some more photos as soon as I spray it with the primer (that has a semi-gloss look) and then I'll think about it...I'm not in rush at all because we have floods here, and also the winter here in Slovenia is quite cold..so no problem about the time to decide.

It's a prototype frame, and I'll use it for next season, I want to really test it well, if possible around 15000km. As you also saw I'm with my mind already on a new project, but you can imagine that it will take some more time before I realize it.

artray wrote:I have to disagree . Black with the white or black Berk logo looks timeless and classic. Fancy colours will soon get boring and look dated .

I'm always thinking how should I make it, and at the end I just keep the matte or semi-gloss finish and put some logoss on and that's it  in real it looks really nice, probably it looks much more boring on some photos.

I want to make a frame/design that wouldn't look for some "very nice" and for others "awful" if you know what I mean. For example there are some frames, for which I know quite a few people who really like the look of a specific frame, and quite a lot who really don't like it..and I don't want to make it like that if know what I mean, the same is for the graphic design.

A friend of mine has a Wilier Fluo Green MTB and it really looks interesting, with matching clothes it would look even better. And that's another thing that I want to achieve - make a design that won't look bad with different clothes. And black/white, also some silver etc. would fit almost any clothes.

Nude carbon looks cool and shows off the workmanship. Painting your customer frames should probably not concern your first year trading. You will be selling mainly to people who have already decided they would rather be a part of getting you established as a brand, even compared to giving their cash to other worthy small businesses, like perhaps crumpton or parlee.

Otherwise I don't really have any big plans, just enjoying in the work, and then I'll see what time will bring. Maybe I'll make a frame for a friend of mine etc., will see, depends also from my free time. But what I really want to do is to send a frame on an institute where it would be tested, I would really love to see some numbers and compare them...if I would be able to make that next year I would be very very happy. If I'll be financialy able I'll for sure make a frame and send it to a frame testing institute, but at this moment I couldn't so we'll see.

Regarding the design I really have no idea how to make it, so any opinion is welcome. Otherwise I'll just make it similar like PT4 :noidea:

Jure, if you are doing stickers then i wouldve thought it would be a relatively low cost to have many different colour stickers. If I was making an order it would be metallic orange stickers, with an Enve cockpit and Enve wheels with organge Chris King hubs matching the stickers.

Haha I didn't mean plaster the bike with Fluo Green. Just the simple classic Berk logo on the downtube in green. And possibly an accent strip down the seat tube in the back facing the tire ala CAAD10. Or even inside the fork. Keep the frame simple.

Basicly that's something like I already made on my previous frames. Just finish it, completely without any graphics, and then just put some stickers on. You can change them any time, and they hold perfect. And you can "tune" it any time...for example I think it would also look nice to keep the frame in black (carbon look, not painted), and tune it a bit with some anodized bolts and with matching graphics,.. :)

And another detail for the new monocoque project, carbon dropouts with derailleur hanger.

Image

The dropouts will be hollow, except of course the clamping area will be a solid piece of carbon, 5.5mm thick. The derailleur hanger will be made for me by a company, where they could also make it in different colours, so it could match with some tuning bolts etc.,.. ;)

Jure, I think it is a great idea to offer your decals in different colors and then match those colors to your rear derailleur hanger colors. So if you buy one of your frames and want blue decals, then you get a blue derailleur hanger. Also if you are getting Sram, you could match it up with their colors as well.

Could also offer decals for your post/saddle combos in the same colors.

I can't wait to see how the business works out.

Yes, that would be for sure a nice detail, and easy to change!
Otherwise maybe I could get also some specific decals, that would be under the clearcoat. They're very thin and you wouldn't see that it's a decal once it's under the clearcoat. I'll see if I'll be able to get them.. I really can't wait to start with that project!

But of course I still need to finish my PT5 frame, somehow I "forget" a bit on it because the new project that started in SolidWorks,...I get that chance to make the moulds for it and just started with it the same day. I hope that in the next few days I'll manage to finish the PT5 frame. Till Tuesday I have quite a lot of work for my study, and then I hope that I'll be able to continue with some carbon work.

The frame will be at the end around 950g, and a monocoque frame should be quite a bit lighter with the same properties (I just made some calculations, it should be at least around 70g lighter, but most probably even more). That means a 880g frame, and that would be really great..but I'm one of those guys who have to try to belive it  so we'll see, first I'm really interested how the new layup of PT5 will turn out. And then hopefully during this winter I'll already have some of the moulds for the monocoque frame project.

Hi Jure,

Can you also make the combo for a bmc slr01? A buddy would love one.

Cheers
