Flat spokes vs round spokes

With almost all highend wheelsets built with flat/bladed spokes, would using a round spoke like the dt revolution make a better handling wheel for crosswinds, like most new wheels that have wider/round profile

Nope, IDK about everyone else, but my bladed spokes make this "wooshing" sound when I am over 40kmph, does anyone else experience this?

wooshing is more likely to come from your tyres than the spokes - do 40 Kph would be nice - i'd put up with lots of noises at that speed.

Maybe take a look at a spoke like the Cxrays from Sapim. They have an ovalized blade shape which makes them very aero with respectably high yaw angle tolerances.

there's a slight increase in crosswind effect, but it's no big deal

the benefit of cx-ray vs. round spokes on aerodynamics far outweighs this

not sure about the whoosh, but they can certainly howl depending on yaw angle

I think they would provide very similar advantages to the Cxrays. I don't have any paperwork though to show drag coefficient differences.

They are the same shape. The only spoke (by Sapim) that does better as far as aero goes is a type that's made especially for FKC (Francois Kerautret). Unfortunately I do not have actual details, I'm just repeating what the French press is saying here.

There is however a new flat Superspoke (Sapim again) that is reportedly lighter and potentially even more aero due to less material etc.

sapim cx ray are razor sharp, i love them. what about "fake" fat aero CN and others? easton ec 90 aero has strange sapim spokes..or are they SAP spokes? i think sapim lasers 1.5(1.4 after tension) are pretty aero

Not shure about this one, but my take is the wooshing sound comes from the rims, well, the rims serve as harmony tables that amplify the spokes vibrations in the wind, like a violin or guitar. That's why very thin walled, deep carbon rims seem to sound louder...

...Makes sense ?
