Smud stuff is nice and I have had a seat, and his Thompson carbon cradles in the past. All parts were well made and I was quite happy. I was looking at buying a post from him but I am a little skeptical of running a 27.2x400 carbon post up as high as I need it to be. For a little less money I say go for the KCNC post and if anything, upgrade the clamps if you feel the need.
Cannondale Synapse (alu)...it works

FWIW, the Perfomance Bike (of all places!) carbon seatpost is as light as most high-end posts out there, and can be tuned with light yokes. Sells for like USD$79.
