I recently got an Enve 2.0 fork to replace the 3T Funda pro fork on my Cervelo R3SL (the fork came off my R3).

But the bike is glossy black and the fork is matte carbon weave. I hate to be an appearance weenie but thinking it's going to look wrong. I'm not too far from Calfee and could have them paint it. But how much does paint weigh? Would it look better to have the whole fork painted gloss black or just the top? Other suggestions?

Why did you replace the 3T fork?

Just get a matching Edge stem (and possibly seatpost too!)... and it will look great! :)

Also... are you sure it's carbon WEAVE, and not UD carbon? I've never known Edge to make many carbon weave forks, and if they do it was for a special builders project.

You're on Weight Weenies. How is this surprising? Maybe you thought you were over on some other forum?

Anyway, to the question: the best guess would be 40g for paint if it were "thick"
Clear coat would not weigh so much. I once stripped the clear off of a Easton EC90SLX using Carbolift and lost 10g total. That was just a clear coat & a few decals though.

It couldn't weigh more than 15-20g. Depending on how light they do it.

You're right, I mis-remembered, it's UD, matte black. So it'd just need to be glossy to match. Maybe I could just put a couple coats of wax on it.
