Ooh, the seat stays look like a Potts Type Two fork. That is so cool: stiff where it needs it and supple where it doesn't.

Rob mentioned that the kind of detail that I was looking for would be impossible for a powder coat job. In the interest of durability, I decided to revise it and go with a powder coat instead of wet painting. I think having a simple design befits CX too.

I'll do my best to get any specific pics people want once the bike is in hand, but I haven't received it yet. Rob should have more pictures for us soon.

Thanks for the interest in my bike, and more importantly, Rob's work. He's truly great to work with. The bike has shipped today (Oregon -> Massachusetts.) I will post finished pics later today. Here is the build list that Rob sent me with part weights and projected final weight (will verify upon arrival.)

On Rob's website (http://www.englishcycles.com/custombike ... race-bike/) he has the bike weighing in at 16.5 lbs. That would be amazing.

The cages are for racing and training the same bike.

I always thought cages were used for carrying water while you ride. :doh:

Aren't you going to get some front braking action whenever you turn the bars ?

Yah I was wondering about that as well, but you have to realize that when the bars move the fork also moves as well so the tension in the cable doesn't change. It would only change if one moved and the other didn't

KWalker is correct (as usual.) The fork, brakes, stem, and bars are all moving on the same plane so the braking should work well. As far as I know, this is the only stem set up this way. Anyone know if this has been done before?
