The saddle was my sons, he had crashed and damaged it so I had it off him and took the cover off, its really smooth under it, so not much sanding on top was needed.dremel the cut outs and smooth off with wet wnd dry paper and I used car type clear lacquer. There is a little stub where the injection of the carbon moulding process in the centre but as I had cut the middle out I wasn't a problem, I have since cut out the back off the sadddle as on the last pic and its now down to 110g, the stripped cover weighted 30g.
Its very comfy with the centre cut out as it flexes alot so its not stiff and hard.
The seatpost is now down to 156g with more material taken from it, I wanted to get it down below Kcnc one.
I think it a nice weight considering the cost(free to me) and the weight of other saddles at that weight.
The top of the post was also dremelled for it to sit on, you'll notice the thick piece of alloy still left from the cut off clamp, that must weight a bit so i got a hole saw that was almost the same size as the ID of the post and bored it out. It also took a few thou' of the wall lightening it even more.
I'm please how it turned out, lighter than the Kcnc one I was going to get for alot less.
I have only ridden the bike a few times but its very different compared to my old alloy framed bike. Being only 14.6lb very light, stiffer, soaks up road buzz and climbs very well always heading for the hilly route.
I love the frameset looks better in the flesh and great value.
Ritchey stem 90mm at 102g with Ti bolts.
Extralite ultrastar2 expander.
I removed the FSA CE 15mm top cap was 19g.
And got a Lizard skin neoprene headset cover at 1g.
Update I have removed the neoprene cover and have refitted the fsa top cap cut down to 5mm @6g from 15mm @19g
Bike now 6.6kg
Removed Mavic Ksyrium wheel stickers.
Ritchey WCS wet look stem stripped and cut out front cap.
Bars with the same stripped treatment.
Shift lever clamp lightened with Ti bolts and grinded clamp.
The stripped bars and stem look better with out the wet look and save some weight too. It's anodized under the gloss finish which meant no further finish was needed. I sprayed the front cap satin black for that all important stealth look.
Happy with the wheel stickers removed too, I wasn't sure how it would look, but think it look better with out them.
I was thinking of getting carbon clamps but the would be too costly to get here so i decided to tune them for less. bolts were from Pro-bolt and weight 3.5g compared to 7g per clamp .
Bike is now 6.55kg
Cannondale Evo HM (In Progress)
Cannondale CAAD 9 - 6.44kg
Cannondale CAAD 5 Track - 6.55kg
Kona Kula Supreme Mtb - 8.97kg
