Is anyone else using new dura-ace 12 speed on their Crux? If so couple of questions.
- Gearing - 50/34t 11/34 cassette... how is this?
- No clutch - how does the RD handle the rough stuff without a clutch?
- any chain catchers with the 2x?
Cheers
If you race, go with new GRX. I had Ultegra 12sp for a year and it's fine for 95% of gravel or any casual gravel riding. But I found that when I race and go really fast over rough sections or have to jump an obstacle, RD would not handled it well at all. It was not unusual for RD to into crush mode during a race. I now run GRX FD and RD, everything else is still Ultegra, very happy with this set up.
Another reason to go with GRX is FD tire clearance. With Ultrgra FD I found that it's hard to clear anything bigger than 45mm. Now I can run 47-48 easy.
I run 50/34t - 11/34 cassette and it's perfect, as long as your fitness can support it.

Awesome insight. Thanks heaps mate. I'll test it out. Might swap out the dura ace FD and RD for GRX in the future.

I am looking at a Crux as a dual purpose machine for gravel and CX racing.
The gravel side is well known, but I am still concerned about using it as a replacement for my CX race bike. Considering how light it is, I have some doubts about its durability in race situations. For example, its top tube: throwing the frame over your shoulder, pulling it up, jumping over barriers, etc. puts significant stress on the frame. And obviously, not everything always goes well in a race and the bike has to withstand the odd crash when the height of the bunny hop does not match the size of the barriers.
Does anyone have any experience with the Crux in CX races?
Does anyone have real life CX experience when it comes to its durability, other than a few sponsored pros?

How's the clearance to the chainstay with the 46?

The bike is sweet. How is the shifting performance on that Garbaruk cassette?

I ordered the black (satin carbon) crux comp 56cm. I am going to dismantle the bike and build it using
- force d2 hoods
- some 39/42 cm handlebars
- wheelset 45-55mm deep, ideally 25mm IW on budget, i am considering elite wheels g45 SS, any other options?
- crankset either force or red, ideally wide 40 or 42T
- gearset either eagle axs, eagle axs t-type, or simply xplr, depends on deal, but i would prefer t-type, since i got the UDH hanger
Thank you.

Lightbicycle WR50 with DT350 hubs have been bulletproof and are easy to maintain. 50mm deep, 25mm ID, 32mm OD. Get to customize the wheels to your liking when ordering.

Hey. Shall I expect some obstacles with building crux on ultegra di2 2x12 50/34 and 11-34?
I read maybe 2.5mm spacer on drive side? Shall I put it on non drive side too? Or maybe shall I buy grx crankset instead?

Yeah, 50/34 fits fine. I've ran it with both a GRX and now Ultegra front derailleur. Nothing special needed...
Do you think 52/34 would be possible? Is there room left for a larger chainring in your setup? Thanks
I will respond to my question with answer quoting this
