It's been shown and in my experience, lack of sleep hits you the 2nd day, not the morning/day after missing a goods night rest. The travelling-in day is more important than the pre-event. In other words, don't sweat it.

To keep you updated

After 5 races this year, I've only managed one good night's sleep the night before and I went completely flying the next managing my best result in any race

Despite what you guys are saying, not sleeping completely kills me. Legs hurt, less punch, less everything

I hope I can get rid of the stress one day, I just can't get to go past it for now

keep going. it does get easier. as another mentioned, repetition and familiarity make it a normal event.
not having a great sleep before the race is pretty regular and expected. over time, i'm getting better sleep before races than when I first started two years ago. you just get used to it
